5 out of 5 stars This is the definitive greatest hits package from one of the best boy bands in history!!   July 14, 2006

Before the Backstreet Boys, there was New Kids on the Block and what sets New Kids on the Block apart from the Backstreet Boys is that New Kids on the Block produced five top ten singles from one album and not even the Backstreet Boys achieved the succcess of New Kids on the Block on the charts. Please Don't Go Girl was their first top ten single. Their first #1 single came with I'll Be Lovin' You (Forever) and Hangin' Tough was their second. Reached #2 with Cover Girl. Reached #3 with The Right Stuff. Reached #8 with Didn't I (Blow Your Mind), Step By Step reached the #1 for three weeks. Step by Step was their most successful single. Reached the top ten with Tonight. Reached the top 40 for the last time with If You Go Away peaking at 16 in 1992.

New Kids on the Block was arguably the most successful boy band in the late 80s/early 90s.

The Backstreet Boys had success with album releases.

New Kids on the Block stand alone as the most successful boy band in the late 80s/early 90s.

New Kids on the Block were brilliant and it's time that they were appreciated for what they accomplished.

They were more than one hit wonders and you have to understand that not many artists had five top ten singles from ONE ALBUM.

5 out of 5 stars Fun time with New Kids On The Block!   November 8, 2005

This happenened to be a very fun, great, terrific, outgoing and exciting album to hear every day of the year. They missed one of my other favorite songs, "My Favorite Girl" and some other really good songs that are not in the Greatesr Hits. They should of always been together to perform more and more different songs again. Even to change the name of their group name is good enough with me. As long as they still sing in concert together. I enjoyed listening to their music before and will always really like them and their music. Real good music performers such as some of the New Kids and Henry Rollins stay single and unmarried to allow themselves time to practice and make their music even more better. The best gift for Christmas is for them to ever be together again and to come perform and visit me here in Toronto. I wish the New Kids can hear this and my best witsh of luck to them in the future.

    4 out of 5 stars I'm sorry, I just can't hate them!   March 23, 2005

I tried... but I just can't. Listening to their music brings back too many fond memories, it's absolutely impossible for me to turn up my nose at NKOTB. When taken out of their late 80s context, songs like Hangin' Tough or Step by Step sound downright ridiculous and seem like nothing but ultra-saccharine bubblegum pop. But for old time fans like me, they remain enjoyable because they bring us back to a time when we, pre-teen girls, didn't have to shamefully hide our love for Joey, Jordan or Danny for fear of being mocked and ridiculed by haters the way BSB or Nsync fans had been a few years ago. NKOTB are the original pop boyband, and the aforementioned groups should be really thankful for them. The New Kids paved the way for pop craze that took place in the late 90s. And while this is reason enough for some people to hate them, I'm just grateful for all the childhood memories and the good times spent listening to NKOTB with my friends.

5 out of 5 stars The Orginal Pioneers who were not "kid"ding around   July 22, 2004
Yes, I have to admit, I too was obesessed over the New Kids on the Block. Back in the day, I was 15 when I first heard of them when I would go to dances and the DJ was always playing "You Got it (The Right Stuff) and "I'll Be Loving You (Forever). At that time I didn't really latch on to them until the fall of 1989 when I heard "Hangin'Tough" and "Cover Girl" for the first time. I was totally in love with Joe McIntyre. In the spring of 1990, I was 16 and I found myself plastering my bedroom walls with their posters and even having a couple of T-Shirts. In the summer of that year, I not only adored Joe, but I also took on a love to Jordan Knight. I had more shirts, including the one of just Joe. Unfortunately, my mother forbade me to wear my precious shirts to school due to the harsh criticism that I had recieved because of my wearing NKOTB shirts. It wasn't until Thursday, November 1st, 1990 that I attended my one and only New Kids on the Block concert, where my dad waited in line at Ticketmaster for three hours and me only half an hour. I wasn't surprised that the concert was a sell-out. My seat wasn't all that great as I was up in the nose bleed section, but that memory still lives on. However, as the years have gone by, I still do have the pictures, posters, video and cassette tapes, which serves my memory well. This CD is definately no exception. I occasionally listen to them from time to time as they were the first band that I obsessed on. And yes, I have taken on loves to Backstreet Boys, Nysnc, 98 Degrees and O-Town. I have them all perform live in concert except 98 Degrees-BSB (three times), Nsync(once) and O-Town (once). If you haven't listened to this CD yet, you are really missing out. And if you have, it's commendable.

5 out of 5 stars brings back memories!!!   July 15, 2004
nkob fan (long island, ny United States)
Even though myself and music choice has changed several times, I absolutely loved nkob in the early 90s. i was 9 or 10. i think if they were around now they would have more fans then backstreet boys or nsync (who both i cant stand)ever had. i saw a E! interview with nkob and it totally brought back my memories. from tees and huge buttons to posters and bed sets to belts and charm bracelets with all their beautiful faces on the hearts. i was singing along to the music as my fiance looks at me like im crazy. i had a blast. i just finished downloading all my favorite songs especially please dont go girl. little joey was adorable!!! if your a young adult beginning your teens you definatly have to get their music. you too will love nkob as much as the thousands did years ago. you really have to feel the same when you hear their music. thats exactly what it was talented kids having a blast making the best music ever!!!!
