| Editorial Reviews:
From Amazon.com After plundering the Yardbirds' legacy and Willie Dixon (among others) for their blues-riff-heavy first two albums, Jimmy Page and company surprised many listeners with the strong acoustic/folk sensibility displayed on III. Page aficionados shouldn't have been caught off guard; the guitarist had toyed with similar sensibilities and modalities during his brief tenure with the Yardbirds (most notably "White Summer" from the Little Games album). Ever the creative thieves, Zep kick off the album by nicking the riff from "Bali Ha'i" no less, with Robert Plant wailing it to punctuate the thundering FM warhorse "Immigrant Song." Even other electric rockers like "Celebration Day" and "Out on the Tiles" have an inventive, offbeat musicality to them that suggest the band was already wary of stereotyping. But it's the decidedly mellower acoustic groove of the album's latter half that's the news here, from the graceful beauty of "That's the Way" and "Tangerine" to the raw, folksy charm of "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp," "Hats Off (to Roy Harper)," and the traditional "Gallows Pole." --Jerry McCulley
--Philippe Margotin

BUY!!!!!! NOW!!!!! August 6, 2008 Martine (Montreal) You have to purchase Led Zeppelin albums 1-2-3-4 & there is nothing more to say about that!
favourite mix of Zep's hard rock, blues and acoustic November 19, 2007 Adrian (an island off Canada's Pacific coast) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
For a mix of classic hard rock and blues riffs (the first half of this album), balanced with some lovely acoustic rock (the second half), this collection is unique, and my favourite, in Led Zeppelin's catalogue. Great songs and a sound that's only improving with age. I only wish the III CD cover (or mp3s) gave you a fun album cover (like the vinyl did) to spin 'round.
I Think Most Could Say, This Is Zeppelin"s Best Album June 21, 2006 ZeppelinDude (Ontario, Canada) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
well i have listened to all the zeppelin albums and this one really stands out.. i mean dont get me wrong the rest of them are masterpieces , but this one really stands out in my opinion ,i think its also because the fact that there is an electric side to this album and then theirs an acoustic side , the acoustic side of this album is very powerful and really draws you into the album you could kind of say its the calmer side of led zeppelin but t the same time there still rockin out just as good as they always do... the A side of this album has great guitar rifts and wraps up the album to make it a masterpiece, if you dont have this zeppelin cd in your collection i highly recomand you go to the record store and buy it!... Enjoy and Respect! (=
Meh September 22, 2005 Pine Lake (Canada) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Well, maybe I just say meh because this album is ok, but ok is not up to Led Zeppelin standards. The mini package is cool though, almost humuoris.
Amazing July 15, 2004 MarleyRocks (Pennsylvania USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an amazing album. Some of my favorite songs are the "Immigrint Song" with the traditional rock sound, "Gallows Pole" and "Thats the Way" with a more bluesy sound, and "friends" which i dont know how to explain but is one of my favorites. Like the person above said this album did not get the appreciation it should of because people were still caught up with the first two albums which were also good. This album has a little of everthing and i think it has a little something that everyone will enjoy. This is a must buy for any Zepplin fan and even for people that arent in to Zepplin.
