This book is an absolute MUST for anyone who is stuck in the intermediate locale of learning French. Each subject is well structured and provides explanations in simple English which is where it really wins out over most grammer tutorial books. The exercises provide a true test of the subject you have studied and really make you work to apply the newly learnt rules. The sections can be read in any order with no detriment to the learning process. Cutural notes, idioms, proverbs and all that provide a real extra in getting that "street french" down because lets face it the language you learn usually from books is NEVER exactly the same as the one spoken by the populace is general. I wish I had discovered this book before I had bought the many others that clutter my bookshelf and use complicated/outdated explanations that are not all that helpful for the less advanced pupil. It has a permanent place on my bedside table and now I can be a Brit in France who doesn't resort to pointing and speaking loudly to get my point across :o] C'est Super bien!

I am an foreigner trying to learn french and found this book a really perfect solution for people that want to learn the language. The organization of the book is similar to the organization you see in the french courses and that's a good thing because you can use the book for self-learning. There is a lot of exercises that explore the subject you just readed. But I shoud say the exercises deserve a special mention. They are contextualized in an subject, in a way that is very pleasant to do the exercises. Besides this, they are constructed in a way that you learn a lot of vocabulary and practice the concepts you have seen. The best exercises I ever saw in any language learning book. And there is the responses for the exercises in the end of the book... that's really great. But if you do not want to follow all lessons and exercises in sequence, there is no problem because you can access easily any subject you want. If you do not remember exactly how to construct the future tense, just go directly to that chapter, read it and practice a little if you want... voila! A great presentation of the grammar, many exercises with responses and a lot of cutural notes present in the chapters, make this book a great book for everyone that wants to learn french or want to have a reference book of the french grammar.
