Le realisme dans la description des techniques de combat, dans le comportement des guerriers au combat. L'invasion avortee des Saxons et les luttes internes entre bretons. La description de la religion des druides, cruels et avides de sang, bien loin de l'angelique cueilleur de gui. Un theatre plein de bruit, de fureur et de sang. Un magnifique evocation de la [Grande] Bretagne au Vme - VIme siecle.
Cet ouvrage est le troisieme (et dernier) de "La Saga du Roi Arthur", les deux precedents etant "Le Roi de l'Hiver" et "L'Ennemi de Dieu". A lire tous les trois. On y decouvre une Guenievre et un Lancelot bien differents de ceux de la "Table Ronde".
A mettre en rapport aussi avec les recherches historico-archeologiques relatives a cette periode. Voir p. ex. De l'epopee, de la vraie. Le troisieme tome de la serie ne vous decoit que car il est dernier. C'est toujours aussi prenant et merveilleusement ecrit. Le lecteur suit les personnages qui murissent et gagnent en profondeur. A lire absolument
