Gorgeous Happy Chucks With Heart! August 25, 2008

I bought a pair of these from the US, before they arrived in the UK, because I was smitten by the photos (the colours here don't do the shoes justice, they're really very bright). I was feeling really 'down' and sad, and they looked somehow so happy.
Never having owned a pair of "Chucks" - indeed never having heard of them before! - I didn't know what to expect, but I was not disappointed. The shoes are extremely well made, and very comfortable. I was hooked!
This 'Rainbow Hearts' design (referred to as 'Foil Hearts' in the US) is in black canvas, covered in rows of foil hearts, each of which has a graded colour fill of three blending colours (eg orange to yellow to lime green). They are gorgeous! But their 'gorgeousness' is surprisingly subtle, as head-on they at first seem to be plain black; only when the light catches the foil hearts do they come to life and shine their rainbow colours.
I have livened mine up further with vibrant laces - currently one orange and one green! - as the white ones they come with didn't seem to do them justice somehow. But the possibilities are endless. (I have another pair of Chucks - yes I really am now hooked - in turquoise and yellow velvet, that now sport matching coloured laces carrying Snoopy cartoons!)
Best of all was finding that these are really comfortable to wear, and I'm sure will last ages as they are such top quality materials and construction. I put mine on in the house straight out of the box when they arrived with the morning post, and had to give myself a good talking to at bedtime as I didn't want to take them off!
Placing an order for my second pair of these now they've arrived at Amazon UK, so I have a pair to wear, as well as a pair to place on the display shelf under the spotlight, and gaze at lovingly!
