Product Description
The Tomme Tippee SureSound Ultimate Monitor is ideal for complete peace of mind as it monitors sound, room temperature and movement. The monitor features a digital room temperature display and movement sensor pad which sounds an alarm after 20 seconds if the sensor pad detects no movement from your baby. Compatible with all cot mattresses. Using SureSound(TM) technology with nightlight and dimmer there is also an out of range and low battery indicator, sound lights and is fully portable. *Sensor pad is compatible with mattresses up to a maximum thickness of 12cm (approximately 5 inches). Performance may be affected if used with spring interior mattresses which exceed this thickness at any point. This model is not a digital monitor. Customers who may experience interference for other electrical items or braodband should consider a digital monitor.

reassuring - but some issues June 18, 2008 kate (surrey United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
If you are a mum (or dad) that will sit downstairs with the monitor on and when it's all quiet wonder if your baby is ok and sneak upstairs to check - then this monitor is for you! the green tick is very reassuring and means that you aren't tempted to poke your head round the baby's door, waking them up, just to check they are ok. there are some problems that you have to put up with however. It is sometimes hard to find a channel for the portable unit and this means that you have to go back into the baby's room and fiddle around. I've found turning both units off then on can help with this. Also the alarm sounds whenever you pick up the baby and it's difficult to always remember to turn it off. The alarm has gone a handful of times, of course, it's difficult to know if this was a fault or if it actually was my baby stopping breathing and being jolted awake again by the noise of the alarm (the alarm turns off again when the baby moves/breathes again). I have been right next to the unit when the alarm sounded and I think my baby was breathing fine - just very shallowly. So, it does have some problems but the tick is so reassuring and if money is no object - great for a nervous first time mum.
Broke after 10 months of use May 20, 2008 JenM (UK) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this monitor 5 months before my son was born. We initially were very pleased with it and apart from the odd false alarm had no problems. However, after we had been using it for 10 months the switch to turn on the breathing sensor mat stopped working. I contacted the helpline and they said that as it was over 12 months old they couldn't help (apart from some irrelevant signal advice). I offered to pay for a repair and they said that no repair service was available. I explained that I had only be using it for 10 months and the helpline told me that, as my child was 10 months old I didn't need it anyway so what was the problem!!! Overall I am very disappointed with the aftersales care for what is a very expensive monitor. I have now purchased the Angelcare monitor which is a lot cheaper with a lot more functions and a better warrenty.
Peace of Mind............................ May 14, 2008 J. Lewis 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really struggled to chose a monitor as there are so many on the market. I settled on this one primarily because I trust the Tommee Tippee brand name and secondly because I wanted peace of mind that my baby was ok so the sensor pad that goes under the mattress pretty much sold it for me. I felt the price was very good for a monitor and sensor pad. I have a very big baby who outgrew his moses basket at 8 weeks. I could have struggled on but he was hitting the sides and I knew we would all be happier if he was in his own cot in own room but I was terrified of something happening to him! This monitor has been just fantastic for us - after the first few fretful nights we trusted it to do it's job and were able to relax. The monitor is easy to assemble, very simple and straightforward. The parent monitor can be kept on the base, run off the mains or it can be carried about using the belt clip. The red light indicates battery power (when off the mains pod) and the flashing green light indicates baby is moving/breathing ok. The green light is very comforting ! The volume on the parent monitor goes up pretty loud, I never need it up full even with the tv on, and I always hear him straight away with the first murmur - it picks up every sound from the baby. Cleverly though, it won't flash with the noise of something outside e.g a plane flying overhead or a child screaming outside! I was very impressed. The sensor pad is plastic and seems very durable, and easy to plonk under the mattress roughly where your baby sleeps. I have a highly sprung mattress so it works a treat. I lent the monitor to my mum and she has a really cheap mattress with no springs so I was interested to see if the pad could detect baby's movement. It did! Downside - the reason I didn't give this monitor 5 stars is because after 12 weeks I have only lent it out to my mum twice and was extremely careful to wrap the sensor pad up in cotton wool! Despite this it had two false alarms in one night. I never had this before. I was panic stricken. I sincerely hope that it isn't an ongoing fault - I won't be moving it about again that's for sure. Otherwise, I highly recommend it.

We bought this as it had the sensor pad attached. The sensor pad has been fine but we have had nothing but problems with the signal. In the end was gave up and bought another. Haven't had a problem since.
Great piece of equipment gives peace of mind December 31, 2007 Mr. S. Watson 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
My wife and I purchased this a few weeks ago and I have to say I was a little unsure about whether we needed it. We have a gorgeous 3 month old daughter and we already had a sound monitor which was perfectly fine. But during the evening I would say quietly to myself is she ok upstairs. I would occasionally hear her make a sound on our old monitor, but when it got quiet I would sneak a look upstairs and check she was ok. I know its a bit over cautious but once its in your mind you can't help yourself. So when we got the suresound monitor we removed it from its packaging and set it up in about ten minutes. The only problem we encountered was a lack or correct batteries. We didn't have AAA batteries, we thought it used AA type. But we popped down the shop and solved the problem. The only thing I did do before setting it up was place a wooden board underneath the mattress as it has a spring base and I had read about people geting false alarms due to the base not being firm enough. When the sensor is turned on you see the green light flashing on the base unit and portable handset with every movement baby makes. We have a thick sprung mattress in the cot and I was amazed at how sensitive the pad is. The only critisism I have about the system is the portable monitor. It is great to use about the house but it would be great to buy an extra portable set to leave downstairs and save on batteries. But this is only a minor moan and thats the only reason I dont give 5 stars. I am not a born worrier but I must admit that this system has given me and my wife so much reassurance that our daughter is ok during evenings and night-times. When we are watching t.v or friends are round we just sneak a look at the monitor and see the green light flash and then you smile to yourself because you know you little one is ok. I would recomend this for anyone not just because of the sensor pad but because it is a monitor, thermometer and night light all in one. Top product!
