Now you can sleep while your baby does. The Babysense II alerts you with an alarm if your babys breathing becomes abnormally slow or fast or if breathing and motion stop altogether. It is very user friendly and simple to use.

i bought one of these monitors for both mine and my sisters babies and found them invaluable. it gave me a much more relaxed night sleep. i was forever looking at my baby and checking he was still breathing, as i think most new mums do, but feel more confident to sleep now. the product is only slimline and really easy to use. i can really reccomend it for your piece of mind

We had the monitor bought for us when we brought our son home from the hostpital. He weighed 4lb. He was born 7 weeks premature, weighing 2lb 11oz and spent a month in our neonatal unit. Although he was fine, he always had an apnea alarm testing his breathing and so we thought it would be best to be on the safe side and get one for our home. My Uncle bought this monitor from Amazon.

It had proved to be invaluable and given us peace of mind (we also kept forgetting to turn it off!), until our son became 6 months old.

We also had the horror of the alarm going off during the night. Checking he was ok we turned the light off and half hour later it happened again! We checked every connection and his position but all was fine. As he was still in our bedroom I left the light on and watched him. Sure enough the alarm went off again but he was breathing fine. In the end we turned off the monitor and I watched him all night.

The next day I checked the instructions and I then realised it was my son who had broken the machine. It states that the item is very sensitive and not to treat the monitor roughly. My son had been kicking the monitor which was at the foot of his moses basket (still being small for his age he still fitted in his moses basket well). That was the night the alarm kept going off!

My advice is that this is a fantastic piece of equipment and I would recommend it to everyone. Just don't put the monitor where little feet can do big kicks! My son is now in his own room and I'm getting used to life without the monitor - just.

Our baby is nearly 8 months old now and we've found this monitor invaluable, having used it since she was born. We've changed the batteries once (at 5 months as recommended) and find the monitor easy to use and portable. The sensor pads fit beneath the mattress and are attached to the battery controlled alarm section by a simple cable and telephone connection-type plug. Just make sure any spare cable is wrapped around something so little hands can't 'play' with it.

As it comes with 2 sensor pads we keep one in the baby's cot and the other available to take with us on our travels when using the travel cot. It does take a couple of minutes longer to install and position the pad correctly in the travel cot - in our case this is probably because our travel cot doesn't have a solid base and so we have to position the sensor centrally in the travel cot before putting the mattress down and then run a couple of tests to make sure it correctly picks up when there's no movement. The alarm section is so easy to plug/unplug it is easy to take with you and the sensors plus alarm are not very heavy if you're flying.

We've found that having this monitor has been an added reassurance that our baby is OK during the night even when she's had mild asthma symptoms and has been coughing lots or has had a bad cold. We do carry out regular tests (again as recommended by the manufacturers) to ensure the alarm sounds when the baby isn't in the cot, and therefore there is no movement being sensed.

As stated in the other review the only downside is remembering the turn the monitor on - but nearly eight months of use and this really is 2nd nature now. I can honestly say this monitor has helped us to relax more and get a good night's sleep - we'll even be packing one of the sensor pads into our suitcases for our forthcoming trip to South Africa!!

We have a three month old baby and decided to buy a monitor to help give us a better nights sleep. We have been using the monitor for six weeks now. Before this we were waking up regularly to check on baby and often waking baby up while trying to see if baby was still breathing. Our experience is that it is very dificult to see if baby is actually breathing without disturbing.

Currently, we keep one pad in the cot and one in the Moses basket and just move the alarm unit between them as appropriate. There is a green light that flashes to indicate movement so when you do still wake up you can just check the light is flashing.

The most annoying part of owning the device is remembering to turn the thing on and off. You usually get about 5 or six steps down the stairs with baby in hand before it goes off to let you know there is no longer any movement in the cot.

We went away last week and the worst thing imaginable happened half way through the night. The alarm went off! I went straight for the light while my wife went straight for the travel cot. Baby was fine but we had put him to sleep at the other end of the cot to the monitor pad and we think he had moved to just the right angle for movements to no longer be sensed by the pad. (Of course he might have stopped breathing and moving but we are happily convinced otherwise). Our travel cot did not have a solid base and we didn't use any plywood under the pad so this may have contributed to the alarm.

In either case we would not hesitate to recommend the monitor. If you follow the guidelines fairly closely it does exactly what you would want from a baby movement monitor.
