A truly wonderful historical study of the norman conquest and its dramatic and profound effects on Britain. Easy to read, not too dry a narrative but convincing and intellectual. Brown has also written a book of primary sources which compliments the conclusions he draws here. Not just for the history buff but for anyone who might be interested in an in depth, authoritative analysis.
