 Inspiring piece of economic history December 21, 2006

I read this on a plane to Australia. Boredom threshold for books on long flights tends to be low - it's easy to get fed up with anything that is at all demanding. This held me for most of the 27 hours. It was great - a real sweeping narrative, fitting together economic, intellectual, social and political history. I'm not any kind of professional historian, but it really helps me to understand how our industrial-political system got to be the way it is. Highly recommended.
