Absolutely fabulous! September 30, 2008 J. Bodicoat (Manchester) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can't say more. Excellent video quality, their performance is brilliant, several friends have gone out and bought this having seen my copy.
Poor sound September 23, 2008 Ageing Rocker (UK) Great band and really good to see but shame about muddy sound quality. Expected more from Blu-ray. Still worth having and I guess Texas Blues is not meant to be pristine after all.
guitarists take note! September 18, 2008 Gary A This is a fascinating watch for anyone interested in electric guitar technique and tone. Billy Gibbons is rightly renowned for his stylish interpretation/recycling of blues guitar motifs. Just try and work out how he does it! The only gripe has been mentioned a few times by reviewers elsewhere; just because you've hired a dozen cameras doesn't mean the footage has to be edited to jump between them every other second. Can be a bit distracting - a shame considering the quality of the visuals.
Dull fare September 10, 2008 Sparding (Ire) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Had never seen these guys beyond videos from time past. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but I thought it might be entertaining. I never made it to the end. Vocals are almost inaudible, the music tired and soulless and the whole show is just boring. As for the EXTRA bits, well the poker game chat/reminiscence is excruciating to listen to. I regretting having parted with money for this. Perhaps fans might enjoy it, but you certainly wouldn't offer it to someone you were trying to convert!
Rehabilitated.... August 16, 2008 F. Duckworth (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I remember ZZ top from the seventies and always saw them as a great southern boogie band. The eighties gave them fame -but at a cost to their image.. all those videos left them cartoonish to most casual onlookers.. When I told my wife.."look watch this...they really are a great band" she didn't really believe me...However..we get to see the real deal..if you love paired down three piece guitar band with fantastic skill this is for you...go and get it.. Wife loved it...and wants me to play just like Billy....if only...
