Product Description The Scout 20 x 50 is a modern high magnification draw-tube spotting scope. Lightweight, compact and rubber armoured, it is easily portable whether for use watching wildlife, as a travel/hiking scope, for marine observation or for sports use.
The Scout features a large diameter 50mm front lens which produces good light gathering and transmission properties. This is further enhanced with special multi-layered Magnesium Fluoride coatings.
The Scout has a built-in tripod socket and comes supplied with a soft case.

Good value September 13, 2008 W Beaufort-Brantley (Oxfordshire, UK) I've had a chance to test this out a bit and am pleased with the product: the image is bright and quite sharp though it doesn't of course have that 'wow' clarity of optics at treble the price (or more). The casing seems like it would be adequate to absorb damage from light falls, but I wouldn't want to expose it to anything much more substantial. One thing that surprised me, considering the price, was the weight of the scope: it is not heavy but feels pleasantly balanced and solid in the hand. A tripod is generally a good idea at magnifications of 20x and higher so it might be worth picking one up, depending upon just how studied your viewing needs to be. It is not absolutely essential. For people who wear glasses, the eye cup is fairly shallow and the eye relief is better than many other scopes and binoculars (one can still see most of the image, despite the extra distance between the scope lens and eye). Overall, for amateur applications, this Belarussian-made scope offers good value. Tripod mountable, 1/4" tripod socket Field of view, ft @ 1000 yds: 177 Length, 14.4 inches when extended (it's a collapsible draw-tube) Weight, 16 oz Three-year warranty against defects

In the telscope world this one is probably at the bottom of the range but as a beginner the way I look at it, for a first telescope this has to be a very economic beginning. Its reasonably priced its well made and it has a clear image when in focus. It has the facility to mount on a tripod if needed, it should last a very long time and its made in Belarus. Ive given this telescope a rating of five stars probably because its my first decent scope someone with more experience of these things may be more critical, anyway I like it!
