| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description A large breakthrough in microscope design! It has a digital camera and LED illuminator built into a small, compact package that weighs just three ounces. You view and capture images (snapshots or video) at 20x power or 400x power on a PC or laptop computer with the attached USB cable. This microscope can be used in virtually every area that a traditional microscope is used.

Hard to focus August 6, 2008 Mr. P. J. Horton (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is easy to use with the low magnification but there are design issues with the x400. The focus wheel is not smooth which makes it difficult to focus at x400, the only easy way is to to move the camera towards or away from the object. This would be a great product if the high magnification was reduced to x200, the focus mechanism made smoother (and also if the pixel resolution was 1024x768 or greater).
A little marvel May 30, 2008 Expat parent (Budapest, Hungary) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Most children's experiences with microscopes are rather bad. Toy shop microscopes are hard to operate and usually magnify too much. (And the optical quality is usually dreadful.) In total contrast, this little gadget is extremely easy to use and shows a nice bright image on the computer screen. The 20x magnification is perfect for seeing detail in things that still look recognisable and the 400x shows more detail again. A great innovation. Don't even consider buying a "traditional" microscope till you've tried one of these. What would make it better? In fact this is a microscope attached to a 640x480 pixel webcam - a higher resolution image sensor would be more appropriate. Otherwise the design is well thought out, the built in lighting is excellent and it could not be easier to use.
