Very good value for money November 5, 2008 Sir Endipity (Swindon, UK) I persevered with a Belkin Wireless network for 2-3 years and thought it was an occupational hazard that the signal varied, dropped, refused to connect (sometimes) and often slowed without reason. You don't need to live with that kind of service and this product has given sterling service already for several months. The signal is always good or better the line/signal has dropped once in 8 weeks and I can't fault it. In this day and age where we feel obliged to pay more rather than less in the belief we are getting a better, more reliable product, this bucks the trend. Excellent value, breeze to set up, buy it!
Pretty good November 2, 2008 E. A. Haselden (Plymouth, UK) I got one of these to link up my main PC to the net and the router is in the living room 2 rooms away. The signal strength varies from 50% - 90% but is generally at the higher end. The only minor issue I have with it is it seems to keep asking for my security key over and over... I am trying it in different usb sockets, but you would think that I didn't have to keep entering the code every time I slotted it in. Having said that I am impressed with the actual wireless function itself and realistically how often are you going to be taking it out and in...? it's almost as good as the my Dell Laptop internal. Recommend.
Sorry but this is awful. November 1, 2008 Mrs. N. Davies As for plus points, it was easily set up with the software on the disk, and was working within a few minutes. I also get good signal strength. However, the drivers for it are not built for Vista, and this seems to have been the start of no end of problems, It was cutting out, and producing slow internet for ages.. with me constantly installing and reinstalling the software to no effect. When I realised I should get the Vista driver from Edimax I did so, and now it works better, but still not well. It keeps cutting out, and on startup refuses to work unless it does all sorts of worrying installation processes. It also keeps renaming the connection. Now maybe this is partly because of personal ignorance on my part or a faulty piece of hardware, but at the least I would not reccomend this equipment as I feel without the Vista compatibility it is too out of date.
Better than anything i've had before October 27, 2008 S. Russell (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Replacing my d-link pci WLAN card. this is brilliant. Signal strength is still 4 bars when my routers 4 rooms away! set-up is simple, however if using vista download the latest drivers and it works a treat! The speed i get with this and my 10mb line is ballistic! Best Wireless adapter EVER!
Shockingly good October 23, 2008 Mr. E. Welsby 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Wireless USB Adapters are a nightmare on Vista x64, I'd purchased two expensive models and they either didn't work on x64 due to lack of support (such as Netgear, who are still selling USB Adapters which simply won't work on Vista x64) or they claimed to work but caused bluescreens and random software errors (Linksys). I had totally overlooked this little gem as the price put me off - I figured it was the one least likely to work seeing as the box looks rather dated and it doesn't even state that it works with Vista x64. But seeing as it was so cheap I figured I'd already wasted 80 on the others so I might as well give it a try. Wow! I only unboxed it 10 minutes ago and here I am. I installed the latest drivers from the website, connected it to the computer and it installed and worked perfectly from the get-go. I disabled it's build in 'wireless management' software which can simply be removed from the start-up folder and it works just as well with the Windows Vista built in wireless connection manager. Seems to support everything the more expensive models did, only this time it actually works! Would highly recommend. Don't let the price put you off. Oh, and a 5 bar signal with the aerial as well!
