Product Description Panasonic has stepped into the world of high definition videos with the Lumix DMC-TZ5. The Lumix DMC-TZ5 has a 28 mm wide-angle setting to fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame, and a telephoto setting to pull in subjects from far away and capture even the subtlest details in facial expressions. It records video in 720p and is equipped with a 10-megapixel sensor, with a high sensitivity range going up to 6400 ISO and a light detection system with several levels. Gone are the days of problems caused by backlighting and overexposure, because the Panasonic TZ5 comes with a Mega O.I.S image stabiliser and a 9-point AF focus, meaning you can pinpoint faces in photos and ensure subjects' natural skin tones are maintained. For backgrounds, the DMC-TZ5 has an intelligent flash with red-eye reduction and slow synchronisation modes, which help to prevent colour alteration. There is also a number of colour, scene and automatic modes, allowing you to really explore your creative side. As well as being compatible with Pictbrige, the Lumix DMC-TZ5 also has an HD audio/video output so you can enjoy your creations on an HD TV using an optional component video cable.

Great compact camera August 7, 2008 T. CHAPMAN (London UK) I was puzzled which camera to get - I have two old digital cameras but wanted one with image stabilisation. I bought this because of this feature and its long zoom. I haven't been disappointed so far - the zoom is terrific and coupled with image stabilisation is extremely effective. The camera is slightly bigger than my old Canon Ixus but still fits in a slightly roomier pocket. I bought a Class 6 (6Mb/s) memory card, but when you get the camera its instructions ask for a Class 10 one to allow HD movie recording. So far my Class 6 one seems ok. I have recommended this camera to friends. If your old compact doesn't have image stabilisation and you want to take distance shots, now is a good time to upgrade.
extremely fragile LCD July 29, 2008 SS (Bristol UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this camera in June 2008 and enjoyed using it very much. I was also very pleased with the photos I made with it. However one morning recently I got it out of its case to find the LCD screen damaged after no apparent trauma, I had not dropped it or bumped against anything nor had it been exposed to extreme heat or cold. I sent it off to the Panasonic repair centre who say it has been damaged and therefore the warranty is not valid and it will cost me 144.00 to repair. I'm pretty upset about it because I don't even know how it could have happened and nor would I have bought this camera if I had known it was so fragile because now I'm not sure whether I can take it anywhere wth me in case the slightest movement damages it again. Good luck with your camera but treat it very gently indeed.

SUPERB CAMERA!! July 22, 2008 G. Ireland (UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you are looking to buy a new camera then this is the one to buy!!.I cannot believe the quality of the zoom on this camera, even when zooming in at x10 the picture quality is superb. The large lcd dispay is the best ive seen. Crystal clear and brightens it self automatically in bright sunlight handy for beach shots. 3.0 inch & 460,000 pixels!! I opened the box charged the battery set the time/date and was using the camera immediately its that easy!!.If you purchase a component cable(not supplied)you can view still pictures and movie in HD!(on a HD tv of course!!) BUY IT!!
Memory cards are optional July 18, 2008 C. X. Linton-Willoughby (UK) 5 out of 17 found this review helpful
Page 13 of the instruction manual with this camera states: "Cards are optional. You can record or play back pictures on the built-in memory when you are not using a card." No memory card is included with the purchase of the camera.
