| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description DMC-TZ3 is the latest members of the award-winning Lumix TZ family of digital cameras, which is renowned for packaging a remarkable 10x optical zoom in a compact, stylish body. To further add to their appeal, the TZ3 go one step further to feature a 28mm wide-angle Leica DC lens (equivalent to 28-280mm on a 35mm film camera) for wide-angle shooting.

Great No.2 Camera! October 10, 2008 J.T. (UK) I usually use a DSLR Camera (Canon 30D). However I don't always want to lug a relatively bulky camera around all the time. This TZ3 is an ideal camera. With its all metal construction it is small enough to fit in the pocket. Quality of images are excellent and when enlarged up to A5 size, stand comparison with my larger format camera. The lens is superb and its large range of focal lengths make it ideal for the majority of occasions. Not having an eye-level viewfinder took a bit of getting used to (particularly in bright sunlight!) but in my opinion this was a minor disadvantage. All in all, this is an excellent point and shoot camera and is certainly one of the best, regardless of price!
love panasonic October 9, 2008 kered (uk) have used this camera for a while now. A holiday in spain tested it's versatility and it impressed me with it's 'point & shoot' clarity. I use the video facility and am always surprised with the quality - as good as my canon camcorder. It is quite bulky (wont slip into shirt pocket)but the 10x zoom more than balances that out.

At first I was very impressed. The camera was small, powerful and gave good results. However, when I took it on a trip abroad to photograph animals in the wild I discovered I couldn't use it. This was because without a viewfinder I simply could not see what I was trying to photograph in the bright conditions prevailing virtually all the time. I simply had to forget I had the camera. I asked Panasonic if they sold something to shade the screen, which might help my ability able to see what I was doing. Their response was pretty much that I should have thought about needing a viewfinder before buying their camera and that I was stuck with the problem. I would suggest others heed their advice and not buy a similar product if they need to use the camera in bright sunshine or other possible conditions where a screen simply isn't able to show you what you are taking.

I have had this camera for just over a year I think, prompted to buy it after seeing the pics my Mum had got from her TZ1. Unfortunately it has been nothing but a disappointment! I have just looked back through all of the photos I've taken ( 600+ )and there are only a handful that I am pleased with - anything other than good outdoor light leads to pictures where the colour seems to be greying. The flash often over-illuminates, the zoom - well, 10x zoom is great, except when the photos you take with it are not focused properly. This camera has led me to question my own ability to take a good photo; it has also left me wondering whether it's faulty ( If only I hadn't had it for just OVER a year - I'd be sending it back! )and like many reviewers here I've found many opportunities missed by how long it takes to focus. I really regret buying this camera - now all I have to do is persuade my other half to let me buy a different one!
Sorry, but what about the focus and the low-light? July 29, 2008 Mr. B. R. J. Hale (Crewe, UK) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I tried my best with this camera, I REALLY DID! But Im selling it off and buying a new one!! I bought this camera because I goto a lot of gigs, and dont always want to get under the bands nose to take a photo. So I thought 10x zoom would be pretty good... WRONG! The auto-focus takes forever to adjust, and half the time it still cant focus. Photos as a result are either blurry or noisey to a degree. Waste of a perfectly good optical zoom... But the biggest draw back is, unless you are constantly in the sun, the photos in low-light (be it in doors, or later in the day) Just come back hazey and BLACK! Total dissapointment! It has loads of "auto-scene" modes.... but I still cant find a suitable one. The on-screen menu also does not allow you to play with the image as much as I would like. The Anti-Shake really isnt Anti-Shake at all! And I cant believe that I can adjust the settings to the level where I can light-compensate To be honest, I would rather go back to using a Sony.. and thats saying something! Final words... Nice looking camera, great wide-angle lens, amazing LCD screen... But not made for indoors, gigs, or quick captures!
