Not for laminate floored cat owners April 26, 2008 Ms. S. Smith (West Midlands, UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had my DC14 for four years, and had an entry level Dyson cylinder for about seven prior to that. It does pick up loads - but....if you have laminate floor and lots of cat-generated "dust bunnies" it is such a pain - the air expelled from it blows the hair (and dust?) around so much that you are constantly chasing bits around. My partner refuses to use it as an upright at all because of this, instead using the various attachments, which obviously takes much longer as they are not as big as a full-size cylinder head. It's great on our stair and landing carpet, however, and if you have carpet throughout, go for it - but buy the cylinder model. The upright is very heavy, very difficult to manoeuvre, and doesn't pick up to the edge of the room any better than the cylinder models. I eventually cracked three weeks ago, bought a Miele (with bags!) and am thrilled - it picks up just as much, but I think it compacts the fluff and dust, whereas the Dyson needs emptying every vacuum because it doesn't compact it. I would buy a Dyson again, but not the DC14 upright. In fact not an upright ever ever again.
Ignore the fake reviews here February 26, 2008 Mr. R. Thakur (London UK) I bought this vacuum in trepidation, not knowing what to expect really but judging it solely on Air-watts. I'm pleased to say that its by fat the best hoover which I've ever owned and makes hoovering so much fun. I think there is a problem where people just don't read the manuals. You can't blame Dyson or the design for that, that's just your ignorance talking. The Mini Turbine I was very sceptical about, but it works very impressively in practice, as if by magic...My Dog didn't like it and ran the other way as soon as it turned on, but he's not really a vacuum lover :) Recommended and support one of the last great british companies. Can't wait to see what they come up with next, I just want to buy them all...

Had it five years and thank god I bought the extended warranty. Loss of suction eh? Hmm, they should be done for being misleading. Mine broke down/lost suction at least once every year. At the moment it doesn't hardly suck at all. Utter rubbish, never again!
It sucks - in a good way December 4, 2007 Big Mick (Belfast N. Ireland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Had a DC4- died after four years owing me nothing - now I use the DC14 Animal. Twelve months on it still survives all that two retrievers and one cat - not to mention the people- can throw at the carpets. Very impressive. Attachments do fall off. Brushes can clog up and need tinkered with from time to time. But - it still makes the carpets look like new. And I still give it 5 stars.
Yipee - no more cat hairs! Carpets look like new. June 8, 2007 K. A. Bavin (Saltburn, Cleveland) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have two cats and one dog and one cat is of the very hairy kind. It picks up everything but the kitchen sink. Easy to use, tools very good - looks posh too! Haven't tried the turbo brush attachment yet, might use that on the cat. For the first time in ages i have clean stairs - very impressed.
