Good kettle - but doesn't stand test of time! August 22, 2008 Alexander Zaremba (Chafford, Essex) I bought this kettle when I moved into my new house 2 years ago. Have had no problems with it until earlier this week when the fuse blew. Attempts to replace the fuse have just resulted in the same fault occurring (it flips the trip switch too). Very annoying as have been very happy with this product up till now. I never had a problem with the lid not shutting (or opening suddenly during pouring) and it boils very quickly and quietly. The lights are a nice gimmick.

I bought this kettle just over a year ago and all seemed fine. There was no problem with the lid opening that other reviewers have experienced. The keep warm function was a bit of a gimic, esp since it didn't keep it warm at a temperature you could reusue comfortably. It actually just got annoying when someone used it as you knew you were just wasting energy. Our issue was the other night, my partner had switched the kettle on to boil, heard a bang and now the kettle will not boil. The light still switches on, so the fuse in the plug must be ok. I can only imagine it's the element or the switch that's broken. :( Not under warranty after a year. :(
Don't buy!! July 9, 2008 L. Roberts (Benfleet, Essex.) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this kettle just over a year ago. At first it was great, it boiled quickly and quietly. But like the other reviews, it scaled very quickly and was difficult to clean. And sometimes we had to thump the lid to make it stay down! Now the kettle keeps blowing every new fuse we put in it (and shorting out our electricity at the same time!). And of course, it is about one week out of guarantee. I'm off to buy a new kettle, not a Breville this time.
Avoid June 22, 2008 Mrs. Melanie Gaskell 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought one for me and my Mum. They look nice enough with the colour changing lights and it does boil quietly enough, but within a few months, the top on mine wont stay shut properly. I have read another review in which someone near scalded their arm as a result of this same fault. My Mums kettle leaks water from the base. Neither of us are very impressed at all and would not recommend this item. Its dangerous.
It's downright DANGEROUS! April 12, 2008 Caroline Jones (Wrexham, North Wales) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Why Breville haven't recalled this product I will never know. I bought one, turned it on and was very impressed at the way it boiled the water so quickly and quietly. As soon as it clicked off when it was boiling I picked it up to pour a cuppa - at that point the lid popped open and a cloud of scalding steam burned my arm. Thankfully my husband was on hand to help so no serious damage was done. Needless to say we returned the kettle - rather stupidly opting for a replacement of the same variety. That one did exactly the same. It was again returned for a refund and we went for a much nicer cheaper kettle from a different manufacturer. Breville customer services didn't give a hoot by the way, so all in all I'd avoid this and ALL Breville products in future.
