Noisy, messy and unfit for purpose. October 13, 2008 F.Lobster (Lincoln, UK) I bought this product from Tesco's online and couldn't wait for it to arrive. When it did arrive, it turned out to be a complete waste of money. Firstly, it's noisy and vibrates the kitchen worktop like Bob The Builder on steroids. I found the only way to get a cup of tea/coffee at a decent temperature was to let the thing spit and gurgle into an empty cup for a few seconds before throwing this first lukewarm dribble away and replacing my cup under the spout only when I saw steam begin to sublimate from the stream. I say 'stream' when in reality it's more like waiting for an incontinent pensioner to finish their business. Add to this the ghastly, Chieftan tank-like racket the machine makes when producing it's tepid output and it's an unmitigated disaster. I even went so far as to buy a thick cork teapot mat in the forlorn hope of muffling the sound. It was so noisy that I was afraid to use it late at night for fear of my neighbours complaining! Thankfully, it seems that Tesco's had received quite a few complaints about this expensive piece of tat and refunded my money without quibble. If you've sixty quid to spare, buy a nuclear kettle instead because this is rubbish. In my opinion, Tefal should withdraw this product until it there is any point to it.
Short Lifespan October 13, 2008 E. Mercer I purchased a Tefal Quickcup and was relatively pleased with it, the tea and coffee it made was fine but it only lasted four days. After four days it would no longer heat the water so it went back and we decided to replace it with a proper kettle again. Also, it's pretty loud when it's heating the water.
Try this it realy works. October 12, 2008 William Eaton (Wolverhampton) Had the same problem with water not hot enough. so i tried putting the right amount of water in the m/c for a one cup, run it through then put it back in the m/c and run it through again. I promise you it comes out BOILING !! Great for tea or coffee.
Only for coffee lovers October 11, 2008 D. J. Griffiths (Leeds, UK) What seemed like such a good idea on paper, is in reality a real disappointment. It just can't heat the water sufficently hot enough to make a good cup of tea. The reservoir is really not big enough and will only make about 4 mugs before it needs to be re-filled. Also it is made of very brittle plastic, so won't take being dropped. A real let-down -we've gone back to a kettle.
use a thermos flask October 6, 2008 Tam (London UK) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Considered buying this but the price, including the ongoing cost of filters and the poor reviews put us off. Instead came up with an alternative - add any excess boiled water to a thermos flask to keep hot until next time - then don't boil the kettle again at all until the flask is empty.
