Excellent Carpet Cleaning December 2, 2008

I have been looking for a carpet cleaner for sometime now but was always put off because they seemed so complicated to put together and use...this couldn't have been easier. Just as others have said, you take it out of the box put the water in plus cleaning solution and go. So straight forward and I'm really pleased with the results. I followed the instructions to make sure that you go over the area washed with suction only until you could see no more water being sucked up, and my carpet was nearly dry. My cream carpets are looking great and I'm sure with regular use they will look like new. I'm very pleased with my purchase and would recommend it because of it's value for money and ease of use.

I bought this on the basis of other reviews seen here, and have not been disappointed. It does a really great job of cleaning and bringing carpets back to life.
Great customer service too... One of the tank handles on mine broke. I rang the number on the sticker on the machine and within 2 days had a replacement delivered to my door. No fuss, no quibling, just great service. (But take time to register your guarantee when you get it, and keep the number - I get the impression it might have been a different story if I had not)
Only down side is the cost of the fluid. Roughly speaking it costs around 5 in fluid to do the average room sized carpet, depending on how liberal you are with it of course.

...but at this price it's a steal.
I bought this after considering hiring a machine until I realized I would have to do the whole house in a weekend and would probably kill myself in the process. My initial attraction was that it does hard floors too and as I have three cats cleaning the utility room and kitchen is a daily chore for me. I tried it there first with amazing results and used the hose attachment to do the corners and surfaces. Brilliant. It cleaned and sucked up any stray pet hairs leaving the kitchen remarkably clean. I leave it 'ready-to-go' for this task permanently.
When you need to clean the carpets though, be prepared for the shock of seeing the black furry sludge that it will extract from your carpets! Gosh! - the place has never been so clean. (Don't clean the carpets if your mother's visiting. It will only confirm what she's been telling you all this time. Your house is filthy!!)
I would suggest chucking this slime down the loo not the sink though - you just wait and see - and I'VE had my carpets professionally cleaned previously.
Instructions are very clear although you need a bit of practice to get the best results. Go slowly as instructed. Some reviews say it's heavy but don't forget it's not a vacuum cleaner - repeat - go slowly.
It IS very loud!! - but in a good " I'm doing a great job here" way. I suggest ear defenders (DIY shop; near the chain-saws). I improvised with cotton wool and a pair of furry ear muffs normally used for skiing - no photos please! If you have sensitive neighbours it would probably be a good idea to let them know that the noise is going to go on for quite a while but they will be welcome to come and eat off your carpets later. DON'T lend it to anyone as you'll never get it back.
Also a breeze on the sofa.
You will need quite a lot of the cleaning solution - my 10 metre by 5 metre sitting/dining room + hallway took 3 bottles - although I did try to do an extra thorough job - four passes instead of the recommended two. Yes this adds to the cost but how often are you going to clean the carpets? Also this is the stuff professionals use so it's not just for show - the oxygenating action pushes the dirt up to the surface. (How do I know - 'cos the last guy who cleaned my carpets showed me!) The solution smells great and as the machine mixes it with the water itself there's no measuring to do.
Following the instructions will leave your carpet only a bit damp - you keep going on 'DRY' until it's sucked up most of the water - I put the furniture back after a few hours - no probs.
I've already calculated that hiring would have cost me more and as for calling in the "professionals" - MUCH more - so it's definitely worth the investment especially because I use it every day in the kitchen. At the time of this review I had it 2 weeks and I do not know how I managed without it!

I brought this Vax 125 from Amazon just over a Month now, and have used it for the kitchen floor (hard Surface) and family room and hall way (where the dog sleeps).
At first I wasn't sure how good it was (especially I remembered the orange Vax that my mum used to have - Load of rubbish). With a baby on the way our carpet needed a good clean.
After reading the positive reviews on Amazon and the price that was available it was cheaper to buy this than to get a professional in to do the job.
Anyway, I was very impressed with every aspect of the product. Once you got used to the cleaner, it was very user friendly. It is a very clever product.
Bearing in mind we haven't deep cleaned the carpet for over 2yrs especially with a dog in the house. The Cleaning was fantastic it lifts the dirt off in one swoosh and dries at the same time. The carpet pile is like new!!
This is the best product I have ever purchase to date. Well done Vax!

Yesterday I decided enough was enough and came online to find a carpet cleaner; I've been using carpet shampoos with elbow grease for far too long as my previous Vax died of overuse years ago. I found this one, half price, with 5 bottles of free fluid and most importantly of all with excellent reviews. I ordered it, it arrived around 3pm, and now downstairs carpets are all amazingly clean... and best of all DRY!! All completed start to finish in 3 hours, from moving furniture out of the rooms, cleaning to putting them back. Thats is utterly brilliant and with a much better finish than from the 'professional' who advertises around this area.
The furniture is back in place, the carpets look amazing, especially considering we've lived here for 5 years (with mud loving kids), plus a previous family (with pooch) here for 3 on the same carpets, I'm delighted with the results.
This is an incredibly easy machine to use, by far the best I've used (I've road tested a few over time) and a fantastic price right now. Buy it, quick.
