5 out of 5 stars Roomba = my new best friend... and probably yours soon!   November 26, 2008
Mr. V. G. Danner (Slough, UK)
Surprise surprise... I was eagerly waiting to see if this little wonder would live up to my expectations. I had been eying it out since I saw it on the gadget show on channel5. I'm happy to say that little Roomba is now my new best friend. I had never like vacuuming, especially when it comes to cleaning under the bed or sofa. Roomba is great, I have set it up to go and do a round of cleaning each day at a specific time, and like man's best friend, it just does what it's supposed to do. It really cleans well. It will never do the job that a Dyson does, but you really get the peace of mind that your floor can be clean of dust, hair, and other bits pretty much 7 days a week.
The few negative points that I have: sometimes tries and catch cables on the floor, such as telephone wires, and others. So it can happen that you come home in the evening and have to look for Roomba as it's not on its docking station. Another problem I've had is that the rotating brush got damaged because of those cables and I had to order some new ones. So a piece of advice, try and keep the cables away from the floor.
It cleans carpets rather well too, I only have one room with carpets. It can also get stuck or push your rugs around the room if they're not heavy enough, so I had to get rid of a couple of my rugs because of this, but I don't see it as much of an issue. I think every home should have one of these and with technology evolving over the coming years, I will definitely get a more advanced model in a few years when mine has served his duty for a while... Go and get yours now... check also the Youtube videos to see if it fits your needs, lots of people have posted their own videos there, aside from the sales materials you see.

5 out of 5 stars so far so good   November 24, 2008
Mr. C. J. Harris (Cheshire, UK)
Had the 560 for a week now and so far its the best `gadget' I own. I leave for work in the morning and get home to a nice clean house (well ground floor but not taken him upstairs yet) `Zoom' as my son has named him does a very good job at keeping things clean (both on wood and carpet floors) ... Saturday had a few friends round and numerous kids who had a `lets drops as many crumbs as we can` competition. Set Zoom to clean on Sunday whilst I went out and got back to a spotless living room, I like my gadgets but I must admit I was really impressed. i have read a few reviews regarding the reliability of the roomba range so will report back if Zoom lets me down but so far he is a must buy as far as I am concerned

    update 2/12/08
Left zoom today with `instructions` to clean the living room then kitchen/diner ...... got home and he was under the kitchen table (poss stuck inbetween the chair legs). Not a major issue but looks like he didn't have enough steam to do both these rooms. To be honest its not a big deal but I did expect him to have enough juice to finish both the living room and kitchen. I will give him another chance and move the offending chairs but this make me think his battery life is not as long as I thought it was, still think he is great though :-)

1 out of 5 stars Not Good   November 24, 2008

Was great for 2 months then conked out, sent it back to be repaired but when this was returned it conked out again after one use. A waste of time and a waste of money, am going to try and get my money back from amazon but doubt i'll have any chance of that

3 out of 5 stars Good but high maintenance   November 18, 2008

I have owned my Roomba for about 6 months now. I was initially very impressed at the idea of having my floors cleaned automaticlly. However it is somewhat high maintenance in that the brushes and especially bearings need defluffing very regularly and the dust container is small and needs emptying regularly. The rotary brush is quite fragile and ours needed replacing quite soon after we bought it as something got caught on it. If you have small children who leave things on the floor then it is no good at all as the said small objects will either be "eaten" or get clogged in the system and stop Roomba working. It is really good for cleaning under bedsteads. Probably OK if you are able to keep you floors clutter free!!

5 out of 5 stars Roomba 560 - Invention of the decade!   November 14, 2008

I heard about the Roomba from a friend, who raved about it. My wife is about to have surgery on her knee which is going to leave her on crutches for weeks, so I thought I'd give it a go. I don't know why this amazing bit of kit isn't advertised on TV or in any magazines I have seen, because once people catch on it will change the way we do housework. You can, quite literally, get on with your life while this little thing cleans your house for you. Not only that, it does a really good job, and it's about the same price as your lower end of the range Dysons. Get a life and get one!
