Product Description Panasonic has stepped into the world of high definition videos with the Lumix DMC-TZ5. The Lumix DMC-TZ5 has a 28 mm wide-angle setting to fit sweeping landscapes into a single frame, and a telephoto setting to pull in subjects from far away and capture even the subtlest details in facial expressions. It records video in 720p and is equipped with a 10-megapixel sensor, with a high sensitivity range going up to 6400 ISO and a light detection system with several levels. Gone are the days of problems caused by backlighting and overexposure, because the Panasonic TZ5 comes with a Mega O.I.S image stabiliser and a 9-point AF focus, meaning you can pinpoint faces in photos and ensure subjects' natural skin tones are maintained. For backgrounds, the DMC-TZ5 has an intelligent flash with red-eye reduction and slow synchronisation modes, which help to prevent colour alteration. There is also a number of colour, scene and automatic modes, allowing you to really explore your creative side. As well as being compatible with Pictbrige, the Lumix DMC-TZ5 also has an HD audio/video output so you can enjoy your creations on an HD TV using an optional component video cable. It's hardly surprising that this camera won the EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association) prize for the best digital compact camera 2008.

robust, easy to use and not too heavy November 25, 2008 Tim Robinson (uk) Iv'e had this camera for 6 month and very happy. I was originally attracted by the excellent lens plus light weight. Plus reviews in general were good. Everything so far has turned out well. It has even been dropped once or twice with no ill effects. Low light indoor conditions could be much better. However is always easy to turn a light on. Also if you like making money or giving to charity you can link to amazon on pigsback.com.
TZ5 small but big on the inside November 23, 2008 K. Sims (Cwmbran) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wont bore you with all the bits,i bought this as an upgrade i had a Sony H5 great camera but a bit lumpy to take out on nights out the wifes bag had no room, hence i got the panasonic TZ5 what a great camera, small with a 10x zoom.panasonics Ai works great. i took pictures in all conditions and was very happy its not the smallest camera but for the size its crazy what you get Software is good too
Awful sound quality! November 10, 2008 Brit HorrorHound (Engalnd) 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
Whilst this camera takes decent but not outstanding pics, beware of the sound quality if you're thinking of buying it to take video clips at gigs. Believe me, the poor quality of the sound will make your clips unuseable. If you can get the thing to focus in the low light setting of a gig, you'll get a decent picture, but that's it. If you can't get it to focus, you're left with a blur!(and yes, I have tried it with continuous auto focus on and off, and I've updated the firmware. So,it's ok if you just want a point and shoot for every day snapping, but otherwise forget it!
Easy to use, excellent results October 26, 2008 Aphrodite (UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This was a present from my husband, and my first "serious" digital camera - and I love it! Menu is very easy to use, very good results in the iA mode, but I also like playing about with the Scenes - using them more than I first thought I would to excellent effect. Highly recommended
Recommended camera October 19, 2008 Broadsword (Hastings UK) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I originally ordered the new Canon from QVC (about 220) and although it was very small, perhaps too small, I found the menu system confusing. After returning it I set about trying to find a replacement for the 4 year old Panasonic that stopped working (unusual for a Panasonic). Originally I was put off because the TZ5 is bigger than the smallest compacts more easily pocketable in a coat pocket than shirt pocket. I need not have have worried as the Pansonic is certainly easily carried around without being an encumbrance. My definition is "do you know you are carrying it" and the answer to this is "no". In its favour the menu system is easy, the wide angle is great and the zoom is fantastic for such a small camera. It's HD movie mode promises to be a bonus. It feels robust in use and because it's a little larger than the real "tinies" it's actually easier to use and handle. The large screen is very detailed and a great improvement in clarity (460k I believe, whatever that means) After lots of research on suppliers I actually bought from Big City Digital (co.uk). I called them after a credit card query and got them easily and the camera and accessories arrived the following day, all at a price beating cost. I recommend both the supplier and the camera
