High quality backpack with a few niggles August 23, 2008 Paul Clark (Isle of Thanet, Kent, UK) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Little more I can add to the already excellent reviews (thanks by the way to the authors of those who helped in my decision to purchase). To begin, I viewed the slingshot range and the Tamracs' at a local store. Both excellent, but the Slingshot is woefully too small for anything but one big body and lens without breaking down your kit. Tamrac expedition were far too heavy as a day pack compared to the Lowepro offerings and suited to more adverse environments. The mini trekker however is light, well made and affords a sensible level of protection. Lens's of 200mm or more will have to 'lay down' rather than be dropped in though. With the DSLR and zoom down the centerline of the case you still have enough room below it for 300mm lens giving good weight distribution. Not sure on how comfortable this would be with a tripod loaded. My SLIK 88 is too big and I guess anything but a lightweight tripod would be very uncomfortable - with all the weight to the rear of the pack unbalancing it. For the 61 price at present this is a bargain - A major supplier has this at over 100. So well done Amazon! A spacious pocket for the sandwiches and map is also provided.
Excellent Rucksack.......................... August 12, 2008 D. K. Cain (Cramlington, Northumberland. UK.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This a fab rucksack. I got it free a few months ago subscribing to a photo mag. This bag is lightweight and well padded. The bag comes with a waterproof cover which is a must with our weather!!!!! The bag has so many compartments for camera, at least three/four lenses, cf cards, filters, spare batteries etc; And i've still lots of space left. All the compartments have seperate padded guides and protect your lenses/camera. The bag also has ties for your tripod/ monopod. If you need a durable camera bag for all your gear, then I suggest you buy this one! You won't be disappointed.......... 5 stars to this item..........
Great little bag... July 7, 2008 B. Bapodra (Hertfordshire, UK) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Let me sum this up... excellent. Main compartment - enough for 2 bodies (like 5D), plus a couple zooms and a couple prime lenses. Plenty of adjustable velcro dividers. If you use a flash like I do keep in mind this will take up a lot of your space, as will any battery chargers, hoods etc. Without these you can squeeze in a bit more stuff. Internal zip compartments - transparent (handy), a bit on the thin side but bearable. I've got around 16 AA batteries, 3x 511A's in the bottom section, and a whole load of flash cards in the top two sections. External compartment - good size, smaller indivdual pockets for bits and bobs like cleaning gear, pens, paper, even enough for a decent size sandwich :) ... A spring clip type thing to hang your keys (or anything else) so they dont get lost in the depths of the pocket - nice touch. Slip-lock hoops - although I havent got any slip lock bags this is a handy feature and I may one day get round to using it. Although with a fully loaded bag I'd be worried about how much extra weight I could safely carry before the bag gives way... Straps and clips - plenty, very secure waist clip and elasticated chest clip. Couldnt ask for more... (can be annoying at times if you decide not to fasten them up, they knock around everywhere!) Tripod holder - very handy, some complain that its loose and doesnt hold the tripod, I havent had this problem. Just a case of tightning the bungee cords properly. I've got an 055 XPROB, which is pretty big, so its pushing the limits of what this bag can handle in terms of weight. If you've got a smaller (and lighter) tripod it will be fine. I never mount the head (808 RC4) when I've got it strapped on - its far too heavy and dangerous, just keep it in the main compartment if there's space. Again if you have a lighter head you wont have this issue. This brings me to my only worry about this bag - how much weight it can handle when a tripod is mounted. The shoulder straps are strong but I'm a bit weary about how long they will last if I regularly carried my tripod and all gear inside. At times i've just carried the tripod in my hands to be safe. I've not had to use the all-weather cover, but its good to know its there and should hopefully do the job... NOTE - you cant use it with the tripod mounted. A perfect, compact and comfortable bag if you are always on the move and want to carry just the core equipment needed for most types of photography. Anything more specialised and you need something bigger and stronger.
Perfect! June 15, 2008 Neil Ireland (Birmingham, UK) 4 out of 7 found this review helpful
Quite simply, the best Lowepro bag I have ever owned. Don't hesitate at this price, coupled with the usual excellent Amazon customer service!!
