For anyone hesitating over whether to buy an epilator, I would say go for it. I have salon waxed for a few years now and always thought an epilator would be more painful than waxing. I decided to take the plunge. I am so pleased with the results! My legs and underarms are now perfectly smooth and it's easy to do at home. The sensation was a bit strange to get used to at first. I did my bikini line with no problem at all as well. Using the epilator is definitely less painful than waxing.
The good thing about this model, Braun Silk Epil Xpressive, is that it's so versatile. Its Hairlift system gently lifts and removes hair. It even removes short flat lying hairs from the root which gives smooth skin for up to 3 to 4 weeks. Its pivoting head adapts to all body contours and gives thoroughness. Massaging systems stimulate the skin before hair removal which helps to reduce the pain. The smartlight is brilliant for showing up little tiny hairs.

Great Enjoyment for newbie November 25, 2008

I am a newbie to epilating. I did some research, and thought that I would try this epilator, and I'm so happy with my choice!
I used the wipes and the beginner cap the first time, for about the first half of my first leg. I got a little frustrated at how long this was taking, so I changed to the cap with the massager either side, and zoom, I was done with minimal pain (well, no more than I was expecting). I didn't even bother using the wipes. I'm a hairy person with fast growing hair (shame) so it's nice to epilate every other weekend, and sometimes I shave just to tidy my legs up, but I've already noticed my hair growing back slower and finer.
I did try doing my arm pits, but this was quite painful. Will stick to shaving them for now, until I'm brave enough to try again. However, the shaving attachment is reasonably good (of course, not as close a shave as a razor, but I expected that from my husbands reviews on electric shavers). It even does a good job on those 'hard to reach' places, if you're into full-body shaving (like those girls from Brazil). Not quite game enough to epilate *there* yet, though I epilate my bikini line and that's fine, and just feels the same if I'd plucked them with tweezers.
I'm so pleased with my purchase, and would recommend this kitset to anybody. It's definitely much less scary than my flatmates 15 epilator!!
Pain but with gain... November 11, 2008

As I am an old pro at eplilating my rather dark hairy upper thighs I thought I would upgrade from my old epi as the reviews here were so good. I am very pleased with the way it takes out even the smaller hairs that my old one never quite seemed to get to. Fast and efficient but I have to say no less painful(I'm very used to this pain now and am quite addicted to it actually)than my old basic model, despite the massager functions which I have abandoned. I like the small head (for the face) and tried it out on my upper lip with good result. I like the shaver head - I can now get rid of my old separate shaver, which I still use for underarms as I am way too woosie to use the epi on this area. Tonight I pucked up the courage to use the epi on my lower leg for the first time (lots of very dark stubble)and ohh the pain, it brought tears to my eyes! I attribute this to 'first time syndrome' and am sure I will densenitise myself with regular use. It was worth the pain to see the swathes of clear leg appearing. On to the bikini line next...... maybe! I found the light brilliant as eyesight is not what it was and you can easily see where you have been. All in all I'm impressed and glad I purchased this unit.

I've been using my old Braun epilator for nearly ten years now, but the last time I used it I found it took longer and wasn't as effective, so decided it was time to invest in a new one and the option of paying 23 a month for waxing was too expensive.
I decided to purchase the Braun Silk Epil Xpressive 7681 Epilator after reading the positive reviews. I am so pleased with it, it is much quieter than my last epilator and has too speeds, it comes with loads of different heads although I have only used one of them, it's really effective even on short hair, it's rechargeable and easy to clean, you can even run it under the tap. The smart light is a great design feature and is very functional.
The only negative things I can say about this epilator is that it comes with a two prong adaptor, which means you have to use a shaver plug and the silver mesh case is cheaply made and mine fell apart at the seam.
I would recommend this epilator to anyone who wants an alternative to waxing.

I bought it to replace my old Philips shaver and this Braun 7681 shaver seem very good also it has included 16 wipes to make easier to shaver -I started to shave as I feel the roots pulled out but legs seem so smooth -- I used Pretty Polly Moisturising Butter cream that give you very soft and smooth - this Braun shaver seem worth buy from Amazon,go and get one before it sold out - Im male and I dont mind shaving my legs cos it look nicely as it much better that hairy legs :)

I am a bit of a wimp when it comes to pain and have given up on other Epilators, but this really is superb. Absolutely no pain what so ever on legs and easily bearable on underarms and bikini line - especially uing the provided wipes. The results are so much better than shaving, much less messy than depilatory creams and so much less painful than waxing. A real break through. Well done Braun.
