Don't waste your money on these - invest in GHDs! September 17, 2008 Deaks (London, UK) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got these after my GHDs broke after 2 years. I read through the reviews on Amazon and I settled on these as they had such good reviews. I have to say, I entirely disagree with what everyone has said about them and I wish I hadn't wasted my money! The plates are no where near the quality of GHDs and therefore do not glide through your hair which causes the hair to break. I have strong healthy hair which I take good care of and these straightners are just not good enough. I also don't think they do as good a job of straightening as GHDs. GHDs may be expensive but I am yet to use another straightner that I find to be better.
Worst straightners ever! September 12, 2008 Hippy Chick 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I think I must have got a duff pair, or these are the worst straightners I have ever bought. After our GHD's died, I looked around and after reading such good reviews decided to buy a pair of these for my daughters, wish I had never bothered. One of my girls has got very thick, long, curly hair, they made no impression on her whatsoever, 30 mins later and she still looked liked the wild woman of borneo, it only took between 10 and 15 mins with GHD's for her to have poker straight hair. My other daughter has quite fine hair with only a very slight wave, but even she was left with kinks. I have finally given up on them and invested in another pair of GHD's. Ok they cost me a 100, but I would rather spend that knowing they will do the job than waste money on straightners that don't.
Superb Hair Straighteners. August 6, 2008 Karin Brown 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a pair of these straighteners today. As soon as I had straightened a part of my hair once, my hair was so straight. I would recommend that you buy these, they are much better value for money than GHD's the price is a real bargain. It turns out that they're great. Buy them!
Curls and Straightens Like a Dream! August 2, 2008 Anusha (London United Kingdom) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the first straightener I've ever bought. I was worried it wouldn't be as good as the super expensive ones my friends have, but I must say it's excellent! I have really really really really fine hair and this curls it and adds volume beautifully. My flatmate who has really heavy hair straightens her hair with it so quickly as well. My hair has never gotten caught in it before.
Just as good as GHDs and half the price July 23, 2008 bluefairy (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My hairdresser told me not to bother with GHDs - on her recommendation I was going to buy some FHI straighteners (about 50- 75) as she said they were better than GHDs in her professional opinion and cheaper- however I decided to browse the internet first and read some great reviews for the Pro 230. So I took the plunge, expecting them to not be quite so good, but they are BRILLIANT!! I have tried my friends and sister's GHds and I honestly think these are every bit as good. My hair isn't curly but it is quite wavy, so I can't speak for people with very curly hair, however these have a very high temperature and give that same smooth, floppy look and feel you get at the hairdressers, so I think they would be good for many different hair types. I do think they must be on a par with the FHI straighteners my hairdresser uses on her own hair, which is very thick and curly. They also have 3 different heat settings, great if you don't need super-heated straightening, like on your fringe for example. I really don't think most people would regret buying these instead of the overpriced GHds- I certainly haven't, and I have been using them on an almost daily basis for about 7 months now. Highly recommended.
