Pretty good iSay September 22, 2008 T. S. Hagemann (London, UK) I agree with the previous posts, the surface doesn't hold up for more than a couple of year's use, but which non-stick surface does?? Ours is used heavily, pretty much on a daily basis and all the surface is gone since years. Nothing sticks in it though and you can even fry eggs in it without any problems. I used to be a chef and I have to say that back in the day there weren't any non-stick around and when they did arrive all chefs I knew (some pretty competent, now well known names) were slating them. Even though I would use a non-stick today, I'm mostly pretty disappointed by the frying result. I much prefer this one now, or a proper cast iron one...
Simply the best October 10, 2007 aidlesultan 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've never written a review before but felt I had to so as to redress the balance as some people have NOT rated this pan which baffles me. I have used the pan almost daily for 7 years and looks almost new. I have used it to cook risottos, stir frys, curries, stews etc. It is immensely versatile and seriously non-stick (I have even one one occassion completely forgot about something on a pretty high heat only to discover all liquid had gone and I was left with a dark mass - I assumed I had ruined the pan but NO it easily came up sparkling). I guess the people with the blackened bottom had been using metal kitchen tools in it (or other members of their family had! The comment from Analon saying one of their customers must have had it on too high a heat confuses me also as I have had the pan on some seriously high heat). I now own the full range and love them all although the milk pan only just sit flush on the stove although I'd say that an issue with the stove.
good to use but doesn't last long August 25, 2007 J. Mc Nairn 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Excellent pan for cooking, superb but dont expect it to last any longer than 2 years... the teflon is rubbish, my pan is now black on the base and everything sticks to it. Not worth the money, this is not a cheap pan and the quality doesn't live up to the price.
Good cooking results but doesn't last long October 6, 2006 Elisabeth (U.K.) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought my pan two years ago and whilst I can't complain about the very good cooking results in the beginning, it didn't last long and after a few months the base started turning black. By now it has lost all it's non stick capabilities and Meyer won't exchange as according to their letter I received, "the heat being used was too high" (I only ever used it on the stove top and it's not scratched). I will never buy this brand again and would not recommend it to anyone else.
most excellent pan April 19, 2006 magdalene42 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I don't understand the less than stellar reviews for this item, particularly the one complaining about the thin base - it has a heavy base and an excellent non-stick surface. I've cooked stuff in it from rice to casseroles (did I mention it's oven-proof too?) without any problems. This is some of the best non-stick cookware out there. Comparing this with a rival brand beginning with T (ahem!) I bought one of their top of the range saute pans - just as pricey as Anonlon - just over three years ago and I placed said pan in the trash last week. There's little sadder in cookware than a 'non-stick pan' that you have to oil...I can't see that happening to this pan in many years. Plus this will replace both your 26cm saute AND your wok, since it has good high sides and is excellent for stir-frying.
