Cast Iron Casserole 24 cm Size December 22, 2006 Amazon Reviewer 15 out of 16 found this review helpful
from Le Creuset. ROUND 24 cm - c 4.2L Le Creuset Code - 25001.24 Simply brilliant - this versatile Casserole Dish/Cocotte/French Oven is ideal for all sorts of recipes. My favourite in this particular size is a 'Winter Vegetable Broth', which simmers away gently and provides a tasty serving of steamy soup to whoever passes through my kitchen - served in an individual lidded Le Creuset Small Bean Pot/SOUP BOWL, with a chunk of warm buttered French bread! Or... ...if looking for inspiration, Sue Cutts, one of the Le Creuset consultants, has a delicious recipe for this sized cocotte:- 'Comfort Chicken'/serving 6 on page 16 of her splendid book, The Cast Iron Way to Cook . MANUFACTURER'S DETAILS - COPIED HERE FOR INFORMATION AND TO ENHANCE THE AMAZON PRODUCT DETAIL CAST IRON:- 'Favoured by professional chefs, cast iron cookware simply obtains the best cooking results from all heat sources. Even heat retention allows cooking efficiency at low or medium temperatures, therefore conserving energy and keeping fuel bills lower. Suitable for any hob-top or pop it in the oven; elegant enough to take to the dinner table.' Easy to use and clean by hand or pop it in the dishwasher. With a little care, these cast iron dishes last for years. Available in a variety of other colours and sizes, too, all at an excellent price, on Amazon, today.
A fine casserole May 20, 2006 Chris Cotton (Guildford UK) 18 out of 21 found this review helpful
Just bought my wife a new one 'cos the last one developed a crack after about 25 years. They don't last forever - also the internal glaze loses its finish and gets hard to clean. The new ones have a non-stick surface and advise against metal utensils which probably helps. The new ones also have a guarantee. Cooks well, very versatile and the weight is not such an issue as it can be with the saucepans.
ONCE IN A LIFETIME February 1, 2006 18 out of 20 found this review helpful
I have had this pot since 1987, it was a wedding present (That marriage didn't last long) This le creuset pot is still used every single day. It is totally indestructible. It is perfect; it cooks evenly, it is easy to clean and is probably the only once in a lifetime kitchen purchase you will ever have.
The best cookware we've ever bought! December 11, 2005 Passionate Flower (London) 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
We bought this thinking if we made a right choice or not. We were not disappointed at all! It cookes well and non-stick. We would recommend this to anyone who are looking for high quality pots for their kitchen. Go for it!
