disappointed November 13, 2008 S. Hooper (England) Firstly this product did not crush the ice at all and that is why I bought it to crush ice, it just kept swirling it round the jug. Secondly on using it for about the 5th time, I put some soup in it to blend and the glass jug just cracked. Couldn't believe it as my old one blended my soups perfectly and I only changed it because I wanted the look of the stainless steel and my last one was white. Also everytime you put hot liquid in it the lid kept coming off and spraying the hot liquid everywhere so you would need to have your hand on the top. This is a bad product.
Difficult to use - poor design. November 1, 2008 D. Saunders Difficult to use. The locking mechanism is very stiff. Thought it would loosen up with use. It hasn't. My wife cant use it as lock mechanism is too stiff to open. Has to ask me to open it, and it takes me all my strength to prise it open. Notice that others have actually broken the glass jug whilst trying to lock/unlock. Not surprised at all. It's now gone in the bin. Looking for a better designed alternative.
Great blender, pity it breaks all the time.... August 21, 2008 D. K. McKenna 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I really liked the style and size of this blender. 1000watt motor sounded just the ticket, and an endorsement from Marco Pierre oo la la, sacre bleu.....However my first one lasted just under three months, the motor just burnt out. The second one less than a week with the exact same problem. I was using the blender once a day everyday for smoothies. Amazon's customer service was first rate and they replaced the first one and then refunded me when the second one went kaput. So if you want to try it be sure in the knowledge you can get a refund. I did a little research into blenders after mine broke twice and it turns out that anything over 600watts is just overkill, so I'd highly recommend you go for a machine of 600watts and under, like the Breville BL18 or something similar.
Has been working well- UPDATE Jug faulty July 15, 2008 Sirius76 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
UPDATE: I was cleaning it with hot water and when I put some cold water in it, the jug just smashed into 10 pieces. The jug is very thick (about 1cm) so should not smash through thermal shock. I bought this at the beginning of the year and it has worked extremely well. The glass jug is superior to others and the motor seems very strong. Don't consider a less powerful blender if you plan to crush a lot of ice in one go. I have even dropped the base once or twice with no damage (even though it is quite heavy). It is also very simple to clean since the blade comes out easily from underneath. I usually just put a drop of washing up liquid in it with hot water after use and switch it on for a few seconds and rinse it out. The only negative I can think of is that the power dial seems a bit light and lacks feedback as it's being turned. You should also be careful to hold the lid if you go straight to max power (using the ice breaking setting or power button) instead of turning the dial smoothly to the maximum, since everything will explode upwards due to the power.
