Stylish but impractical. August 7, 2008 A. B. Mcmullon (Carterton, UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've owned this jug for a while now and despite the good looks I can't reccommend it for several practical reasons: 1. Most importantly the top of the jug is not level so if you fill the water reservoir up it leaks. It's as daft as having a cup with an uneven rim so that you can't have a full cup of tea! It means you can't put the jug straight back into the fridge and have to wait for the water to filter a little first. 2. The flap on the spout and the actual shape of the spout mean that the jug pours badly if you are trying to pour into a narrow opening such as a water bottle. This could have been easily avoided by designing a narrower shape to the spout. 3. The base of the jug is not flat and therefore difficult to stand on surfaces which are not level themselves. This is important if you are using a smaller sink where there really isn't room to hold the jug under the tap. It's also important for the disabled/elderly who may struggle to hold the jug whilst filling it. A wider flatter base would have avoided this design flaw. Another case of style winning out to the detriment of practical design, I think.
Great functional jug, with critical flaw July 26, 2008 Mr. M. Entwistle (London, England) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Agree with other reviewer about the spout cover. Jug works excellently, but one day my spout cover just fell off - the miniscule pieces on either side that hold it to the rest of the lid are about the cheapest thing you ever saw. The big problem this presents is that the jug is then open to the air, so if you leave the jub out, bacteria and anything else floating around in the air will find its way into your drinking water... so, its pretty much useless. I was just going to buy another one, but then saw this happed to other reviewers here. Stay away.
Handle snapped off after a couple of months July 4, 2008 Mr. Colin Failes (UK) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
From a practicality point of view this water filter is ideal for people who drink lots of water, it filters quickly and the capacity is great. The price is reasonable too. However I can only rate it as 2 stars because after a couple of months of use the handle snapped off when I picked it up full of water. I'm not sure if mine had a weak spot or if this is a design flaw - it does appear that the full stress of the weight of the jug and water is applied to one specific point, where the handle meets the jug. I'm awaiting Amazon's view on this.
Very good value for money February 15, 2008 Schneekloth (London) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I am very happy with this filter jug. The quality of the jug is very good and the design is quite nice too. It does not draw much attention to itself and is easy to clean. It is also easy to handle. Since it is quite a popular water filter jug, new filters can be found in most larger supermarkets. I would, however, recommend to buy the larger jug version, because Elemaris Cool 2,4l sounds big, but gets emptied very quickly in a 2 person household.
Quality product August 13, 2007 Helen Braithwhaite (Hampshire) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Trying to save on the bottled water, I boutht the Brita Elemaris XL. It's easy to use, heavy-duty plastic, and seems like a quality product. I've tried several other water purifiers, but this one seems to be the best for the money you pay. Not perfect, but close.
