    Editorial Reviews:

    Amazon.co.uk Review
Oasis were already dubbed the New Beatles before the release of What's The Story--within a month of it going multi-platinum, The Times claimed they were more important than the Fabs; and Liam Gallagher was inviting George Harrison to fight him on Primrose Hill. But then, you'd feel cocky enough to pick on a Beatle if you'd just recorded these songs. Obviously the singles--"Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back In Anger", "Some Might Say"--rock; but it's a shocker rediscovering just how ace the album tracks are. The minor-chord that the chorus of "Hey Now!" pivots on could liquefy a brick; "Champagne Supernova" is the sound of a band riding the nose-cone of a rock & roll Concorde, and as for "She's Electric"--ah, well. Every New Beatles must have their "Maxwell's Silver Hammer". --Caitlin Moran

3 out of 5 stars That was then...   November 25, 2008
    Paul G
and no-one better offset the uncertain, shifting Zeitgeist of the 90s than Oasis. Far from the masterpiece many aver, this nevertheless carried enough swagger and sympathy to etch itself onto many a lager-soaked student's heart...

    1: Hello
A good start, saying "hello" at the beginning of an album. So is going on to say "it's good to be back." It is also a borrow from, ahem, Gary Glitter.

    2: Roll With It
To think that anyone thought Country House was better. One of those classic Oasis songs - perhaps the quintessential one - that DEMANDS you to ackowledge that life is a wonderful thing and you should get out there now and HAVE IT LARGE!

    3: Wonderwall
To me, the most mysteriously overrated song of modern times. The lyrics, laid bare here by the sparse production (apart from the irritating double-beat drumming) are painfully meaningless, and Liam's voice wholly unsuited to this pale imitation of U2's One.

4: Don't Look Back In Anger
If only the track had decent - hell, even half-way intelligible lyrics (Sally can wait, she knows it's too late - why is she waiting if it's too late? Surely you wait if you know it's not too late? Arrgghh!!!) it would be one of the classic rock ballads. Not bad all the same.

    5: Hey Now
Can't remember this one very well. Don't recall it being much cop, though.

    6:
As for this one... was it a track?

    7: Some Might Say
The great thing about this track is it has a great melody in the verse and another, complementary one in the chorus. Lyrics could be a lot worse (and often are). Who can forget the rasping rants about fishes in sinks? Student days...

    8: Cast no Shadow
Apparently about some bloke from the Verge, or something. For once, really - really - good lyrics. Well done, Sir Noel.

    9: She's Electric
Jaunty and saucy. Bit seedy as well. I'm sure "lads" love it

    10: Morning Glory
Good lyrics in the verse, but quite a plain, undistinguished rocker.

    11:
    See 6...

    12: Champagne Supernova
Really a fantastic achievement, this, ending a pure rock record with a calm, contemplative track that nonetheless builds into a colours-bleeding-into-the-sun rock blues coda, forever destined to frame the decade as that which the singer and his friends spent in another one altogether. "Cos people believe that they're gonna get away for the summer." Listening to this record, you can just about believe anything.

5 out of 5 stars Absolute classic   October 31, 2008

Simply, if you don't have this album you need to book an appointment at the Priory.

Listen from start to finish and escape into the sounds of one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever.

2 out of 5 stars Never understood   September 25, 2008

The popularity of this band, i'll start by saying, that i dont think they arent a good band, because they are ok. But no way are they great. Poor singing all round, extremely bad lyrics... Nothing special musically.

Perhaps the most overrated band ever, Oasis seem to continue releasing the same old stuff. Lyrics have progressed worse and worse, the music stays dull and dreary. And Noels poor singing (and liams even worse singing) make these a pretty boring band in my opinion.

I heard one of there new songs the other day (the one with the drawn video, cant remember what its called) And although it wasnt band, it seemed to be all to similar. Alot of the time it starts with a very similar tune to an old song/s but then doesnt carry through and gets worse.

I think there at the end of there tether and should maybe experiment abit more, its all to boring!

5 out of 5 stars One of the all time greats!   September 1, 2008

Dont listen to the VERY FEW 1 star ratings here, They obviously just have something against Oasis. This album is amazing and has hit after hit, if you havn't got it then buy it now! Champagne Supernova is my fave on the album and is a great last track for the album.

4 out of 5 stars Mostly great.   August 20, 2008

(What's The Story) Morning Glory? is mostly succesful. Some may be put off by the Gary Glitter association of Hello; and Hey Now & Roll With It are pretty forgettable. When it's good, however, it's very good indeed:Cast No Shadow, Champagne Supernova, Some Might Say etc...
