5 out of 5 stars An instanly accessible track from R.E.M.'s Monster   January 12, 2001

Strange currencies is a fantastic track from the Monster album. To call this song a "stand out" track is perhaps an injustice to the others but it is in a similiar vein to Automatics "everybody hurts" and New Adventures "E-bow". Bonus tracks include the excellent opener from Automatic "Drive" and a cover of the Iggy Pop classic "Funtime". All in all a great package.

5 out of 5 stars Only decent song on monster   November 19, 2000

The only decent song on the album Monster, perhaps with the exception of Tongue, Strange Currencies is a great song. Not one you love at first, it can really grow on you, and I'd rate it among the best around. The B-side, Drive, is a good song in it's own right, but is often under-rated, because it doesn't compare with others on Automatic for the People, so it complements Strange Currencies quite well. The final song on the single is not really worth a mention, it is not a very good song at all.
