I have had this product for several days now and I must express my total amazement at how efficient this is. I only required it to cover a small area outside my front door. The cats kept fouling this area and when the sun blazed down on it.... well, you can imagine the smell. This would happen up to three times a day. From the minute I plugged this in (I opted to purchase the small transformer as well) the cats just stopped. I believe they do a slightly larger model that may be more suitable for larger areas. My grandson and granddaughter who are eight and four can here the sound and it does really bother them. Having said that ....they only hear it when approaching & leaving my house.

These things DO NOT WORK. Do not waste your money. I do not have any pets but five cats seem to want to spend time in my garden, all are undetered by this device. I know it works because my daughter and I can hear it when we walk past it, the cats saunter by as if it wasn't there. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY.
I would rate this item ZERO but the Amazon system won't let me so ignore the one star.

I originally purchased The Big Cheese - Cat Repeller last year after problems with cats fowling my driveway. The repellar immediately reduced the problem and then about a month later completely eliminated the issue as i repositioned the detector to eliminate a blind spot. Correct positioning is important for the device. Cats do still come on my driveway, but quickly turn and leave without stopping. It needs to cover as wide an area uninterrupted as possible. Battery life is good. The only issue I had was the unit did fail after about 8 months. I just sent it back and got a replacement under warranty in less than a week. Hence the 4 and not 5 stars. I would certainly recommend it and am just going to buy a second unit for the back garden. This will make my property a cat free zone!!!

bought one of these to try and stop cats fouling under our bay window which we have covered in gravel,and having tried every known repellent known to man without little success, this actually works!!!. i now have bought another one for the back garden and so far( one week later) the neighbours cats have bid a hasty retreat!!! no more horrible mess, marvellous.on the downside, the batteries may be considered a tad expensive so buy rechargables. but who cares!!

Returning from a two week holiday to a front garden rank with the stench of cat faeces was the final straw. My initial musings about using Indiana-Jones style traps to launch the vermin back into my neighbours garden left me questioning my own sanity, so I bought a Big Cheese instead. It works! There were only two turds left in the first week after installation and then nothing after that. Why not five stars? The two 9v batteries (not included) were spent within one month so I've had to connect it up to an old d.c. adapter. A d.c. adapter increases the volume so it's worth using one. NB: It IS audible if you have good hearing and the sound is irritating if you're near it. But in such circumstances you just turn it off.
