    Editorial Reviews:

    Product Description
Powerball is a dynamic and completely revolutionary new gyroscope that literally explodes with mind numbing torque and inertia once you activate its internal rotor. It's about the same size as a tennis ball and weighs just a little more, but take a Powerball in your hand, set that rotor in motion with the cord provided (or use your finger when you get used to it) and you'll experience an extraordinary sensation:Power ball slowly comes alive with gyroscopic force - a sublime yet pleasant resistance to your movement which is transmitted directly into your wrist and arms and which provides soothing, non impact rehabilitation at these lower speeds.

3 out of 5 stars I finally got the hang of it...   June 25, 2008
    Richard Madgin (Manchester, UK)
When I received this item I was excited to get it out of the box and to see what all the fuss was about. You can imagine my disappointment then when I couldn't get it working. Fortunately, as with most things, a little perseverence paid off and I finally got the gyroscope buzzing along.

I bought this to use as described to help protect against injuries such as RSI as I like to to many crafts that can cause my hands to ache and cramp. Having only used the powerball for a short while I can't say for certain how effective it will be to guard against this but the initial signs are promising. If you use this daily just long enough to get a gentle ache, and at only gentle to moderate speeds then you should notice (as I have) that good kind of aching you get when muscles have been worked.

I don't think much to the electronic interface as although the idea of being able to measure your highest speed is fun... once you've achieved a high speed and then subsequently failed many times to better it this function then becomes defunct.

Overall I'd say this is an interesting buy and if you're intrigued by it as I was, then go ahead and order one. The price is not unrealistic for the obvious R&D and production of this item so treat yourself... even if you only end up using it as a toy.

1 out of 5 stars Powerball? (where is the power)?   June 2, 2008

I bought one of these for a parent recovering from wrist surgery, motivated by the claims that this was just the job to help him regain the use of his hand.
After several attempts by him and other family members, we found the thing ran out of steam after 5 seconds. The idea of using fingers to achieve the blistering RPM, let alone the other claims was a total non starter. This was returned to the manufacturer and a replacement given. (After all 20+ positive reviews can't be bad). Sadly, the replacement was as bad as the 1st one. Numerous friends were invited to try to get any performance out of it but to no avail. I gravely doubt that we are all inept or incompetent in pulling a ripcord, therefore can only assume that I've just been unlucky to get 2 dud items.
Short of sacrificing a goat to the prince of darkness in the hope of obtaining the forbidden knowledge of getting it to work, I have no other option than to return this and seek a full refund.

Sorry, but from my experience, I think the item isn't fit for purpose.

    5 out of 5 stars I love my powerball!   May 11, 2008

I originally bought the Powerball as a cheap alternative to weights, and because I have an unhealthy love of gadgets. I have not been disappointed on either score. It takes a while initially to learn how to keep the ball spinning, but the effort is worthwhile and the instructions provided with the ball are clear and easy to follow. The Powerball's cult following is very useful in this respect, and there are dozens of videos on youtube giving tutorials on everything from flick starting with your thumb to taking the ball apart for maintenance.

I play guitar, and have noticed improvements in stamina since using the Powerball. I'm also soon to be getting back into archery and looking forward to seeing how much difference the ball has made on that front. The website is excellent - there are extensive instructions on how to clean and maintain the ball, and some useful videos showing how to hold the ball in order to work specific muscle groups. I have no complaints about the support available, and this coupled with the warrenty and the build quality fully justifies the price of the product.

In short, I love the powerball and would recommend it to anyone. I'm hoping one of these + a flexi-bar will mean paying for gym membership becomes a thing of the past.

The power ball is a good arm workout but only if your injured or need light training, otherwise the better option is to actually use weights.

    4 out of 5 stars Still a great product   March 28, 2008

I already bought the neon signature power ball, which is my favourite power ball model so far... and i wanted to by younger bro a power ball so i picked this one, my only disappointment was that this one never lit up, it would be more attractive if it lights up for him... but thats my mistake the 'pro' models don't have the light features... apart from that it is an awesome product, i even found that the rotors on this one runs more smoother than the neon signature power ball.
