Spade is useful height between foot rest and handle for 6 foot man. Shaft is very smooth and attractive. Uses two stainless rivets for greater strength. Handle is split with top giving good grip and again an attractive old fashioned look. Handle serves to protect the hand too when digging near walls or obstructions. Gives confidence. Stainless looks good and is thick and robust.
Good width for digging hard soils not too wide so gives good penetration. Not too small to be practical.
