MOONSTONE
Moonstone is a beautiful translucent gemstone with a white, blue, grey or pinkish tinge to it. Just like the moon it has a magical, mystical quality when looked upon. Rainbow Moonstone sends out a glow or flash of multi-colours when moved to catch the light and is often described as white labraborite or spectrolite.
Moonstone's vibrations, naturally aligned to the Moon, are extremely feminine and like Lapis Lazuli is held to be a sacred temple stone in some countries. The vibrations are recognised by those drawn to psychic work as Moonstone. is generally worn to aid intuition and insight. Moonstone begins it's work by balancing, calming, centring and soothing the emotions. Emotions that are difficult to control, that get in the way of leading a balanced, helpful life. It works chiefly upon the Crown Chakra which then sends it's message down through the body. Moonstone worn by mystics also sharpens awareness and I feel helps penetrate into parallel worlds that are around and within us. A subtle stone that breaks down barriers. It helps to banish selfishness and negative emotions that hold us back, thus bringing into the self a new understanding and psychic awareness.
Moonstone is generally worn, polished, set into a ring or pendant, but rough Moonstone is equally beautiful. It is beneficial to hold for some moments to the third eye for meditation, and to the centre of the chin for balancing. Many people who wear Moonstone seem to do this instinctively. Like Amethyst it is a beautiful stone for meditational work, for contacting creative energies, and worn together helps to bring into the mind new and wonderful ideas. Because of it's good effects upon the wearer or carrier it will promote friendships and loyalty.
Like all stones it will be more alive with appreciation and love and this, as with all things, will reflect back into one's body and again out into the world. An admiring glance or casual caress with the finger tips upon a gemstone will immediately activate it's vibrational qualities.
Moonstone is a female-orientated stone and as well as aiding intuition and psychic awareness it also acts well upon the physical body. It is often used in conjunction with other stones to reduce swelling and body fluids, and is a great aid, as with Malachite, in helping with menstruation problems. A stone many seek to aid in pregnancy, the whitest and most translucent is the best. The variation of colour will obviously effect the vibrations of this stone. White being the purist, calming and most harmonic, bluish aiding communicative work, greyish being slightly protective and the pinkish gemstone aiding compassion. I found in the past that most people veered off the pinkish variation finding perhaps a painful reminder in it's compassionate vibrations, but now gradually the tide is changing and I believe soon a new step into this field of emotions will be reached. I feel this has been augmented in the pink mother-of-pearl shell jewellery which is a great aid in strengthening the human being on all levels. As you may see there are patterns in all things.
Moonstone's qualities also make it an exceptionally good stone for men to wear. The reason being that as well as balancing it brings into their minds the receptive qualities that will aid the higher self. It will help to open up, listen to intuition, their inner-guide voices and to see selves more as the 'whole' person rather than just 'male'. For this reason many men who follow a mystical life or tread a path dedicated to higher awareness wear a Moonstone. Set in gold or silver, it is a personal choice, their energies reflecting the Sun and Moon.
Moonstone has a dual role in serving both as a shield and a door. The shield of emotions and the door of intuition. There is also a legend that Moonstone's energies promote a long and happy, contented life. Two of it's most precious gifts being balance and awareness.
