Allen-Edmonds shoes are excellent, and the Park Avenue is their best selling and most popular shoe. And with good reason! These shoes look great and they are of superb quality and craftsmanship. This oxford is made of premium calfskin, and has an all leather lining. It has a leather outsole and a rubber heel pad.
It's a cap-toe design shoe. If you want a shoe that is slightly longer and more pointed, may I suggest another Allen-Edmonds shoe, the Soho model. I own both, and the Soho is also a cap-toe style. But the toe cap is longer, giving the appearance of a longer shoe. It's just a personal preference as far as a more modern look or a more classic look. Either way, both are excellent shoes. All in all, a very good looking shoe that is both durable and comfortable.
Don't forget to take care of your shoes by cleaning and polishing them occasionally. Polishing doesn't just help your shoes look their best - it also covers and repairs the damage caused by normal wear and tear. It also moisturizes the leather, which keeps it flexible.
I strongly recommend using shoe trees when storing your shoes. Shoe trees fill out the shoe, and help maintain the shape of the leather. Make sure that your shoe trees are made of cedar. Cedar helps to absorb odors and moisture, which lengthens the life of your shoe.
And don't forget that when you buy Allen-Edmonds, recrafting is available to you through them. For a reasonable fee, they will recraft your shoes and make them look like new again. You can find information on the Allen-Edmonds recrafting process on their website. You just have to print and fill out a form that is available online, pack up your shoes, attach the free UPS mailing label they give you, and send it off to Allen-Edmonds.
Unbelievable shoes June 5, 2008

I have had these shoes in Black for 8 years now and am on the 3rd set of soles. They have gone back to factory every time for refurbishment and they are STILL the best looking shoes I own. I have tried many brands over the years and have 3 sets of Allen Edmonds and do not ever plan to buy another brand of dress shoe unless something changes. As for the price, you can pay less but you get less, and if you have them refurbished, over the long run you will fel they are worth EVERY penny.

I've always worn better than average shoes. When you wear size 13, you need good shoes. Anyway, one day I went berserk and bought a pair of
Allen Edmonds Men's Park Avenue Cap Toe Oxfords. They were comfortable from minute #1 and I haven't regretted the purchase for even a second. When I switched to my old good shoes for a week -- WOW what a difference. The Allen Edmonds shoes were much better. I now own two pairs and they are both great. I alternate them each day and use shoe trees at night -- both practices are highly recommended. One other note: Allen Edmonds shoe polish is excellent. I was using the brand you get at the grocery store and what a noticeable difference it makes to use the Allen Edmonds Premium Shoe Polish. Not sure why, but it is much better stuff. Bottom line: If you need excellent black dress shoes that are comfortable enough to wear for long days including long treks through airports, I highly recommend these. As for the price ... How much do you spend for tires on your car? My last set cost $500. I decided that I am worth $300 for awesome shoes.
