Among the clusters of stars sprinkled across the ceiling are eight recognizable constellations. The accompanying guide tells the warm-hearted story about how Twilight Ladybug got separated from her father and used the constellations to find her way home, which is a sweet way to introduce the constellations and encourage kids to learn their locations. An included booklet maps out which area of Twilight Ladybug's shell the constellations are projected from, so stargazers will know where to look for them on the ceiling. The booklet also gives a brief explanation of each constellation and its most notable features. In the center of the sky is Orion the hunter, most easily recognizable by the three stars that make up his belt. At the 11:00 position, both Draco the dragon and The Little Dipper can be spotted. The Little Dipper is more visible because the North Star, Polaris, highlights the end of its handle. The North Star used to be positioned within Draco but movement in the skies shifted it over to The Little Dipper over time. In the upper right side of the sky (and the ladybug's wings), is Canis Major (The Greater Dog), which hosts the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, at a point in the dog's neck. Right next to Canis Major is Cepheus, a little house with a pointed roof. In the lower right quadrant of the sky, Pegasus -- the winged horse -- is visible. He is easiest to find by locating the square that makes up the center of his body first. On the south side of the sky (between 6 and 7:00), viewers can see two stick figure people. These are Gemini, the twins. And, finally, the best known constellation -- The Big Dipper -- can be found at 9:00. This is really two constellations in one as The Big Dipper makes up the tail end of the constellation Ursa Major, the Big Bear. I got this for my almost 4 year old when I was about to have a baby. I was anticipating my daughter wanting to be in my room at night since the baby would be in there. So after my little boy was born I decided to give her a very special gift. I showed her how it worked and explained to her how much fun it would be to be in her own room with her special ladybug. Now she even asks me to close her door at night so she can see the stars. I am also going to get the turtle for my son.

Since the baby is sleeping in our room we set it up and fall asleep to a constellation of stars. It has three seperate color settings, red, blue and green. We usually leave on blue and most nights I am fast asleep before the timer turns off the light. It's battery opperated and would you believe they batteries come with? I know unheard of it today's world but true. We were so impress we bought two more for our nieces. they are going to love them..

My two sons, ages 4 & 2, love this ladybug! My goal was to give my 4-year-old son a way to control a nightlight so it wasn't on ALL night. He took one look at this ladybug and handed over his precious nightlight immediately. We have a vaulted attic ceiling in an old Cape, and the stars look just fine on his walls and ceiling. The blue shows best, followed by green and then red.
The only issue is that they fight over it, so we're buying the new "Sea Turtle" version (not yet available on Amazon as of July 24, 2008) for my 2-year-old at a local store this weekend.

I bought this for my 3 yr. old daughter and it was a hit! When it first arrived, it was during the day and not dark enough to see the stars. We took it into our bathroom and spent half the day in there looking at the stars! I recommend this to any one with little ones, and especially if they love the moon and stars. It would really help babies and toddlers who are having sleep issues. They could learn to enjoy bedtime w/ this product.
