I have flat ironed my hair without using a protective serum. I have split frantic ends. This did not provide a miracle overnight. I used it four times, each time leaving it in overnight, and I can finally see some improvement.
Again, I believe BioSilk is a better product for the price.

I've used this once a week for three weeks now and like it very much. I was a little worried that it would be hard to get out of my hair and I'd have to use a harsh shampoo that would reverse all the benefits, but that hasn't been the case.
I like to put this in my hair in the afternoon, then braid my hair and sleep on it, washing it out the next day. I've tried sleeping in a shower cap, which was odd and the cap didn't stay on. I've switched to sleeping with a towel over my pillow and washing the towel the next day.
I had concerns that sleeping with and oil product in my hair would cause my to break out with acne, but it hasn't. I've woken up and could feel the oil on my forhead from my bangs, but my skin has remained clear and I've had no issues.
I mixed some of this with some jojoba oil the other day and I think the results were even better than when I use the marinade alone. Plus, the marinade smells terrific. One of my favorite Philosophy scents is their Frozen Lemon Custard or Muffin Man scent. It's sweet but not cloying and I love catching a whiff of it while I've got this in my hair. I'd give it 5 stars, but it's a little on the pricey side.

I went to my hairdresser to have my hair colored because it was so dull. I thought that grey hair had finally taken over because my hair no longer had any shine or highlights. My hairdresser told me I didn't need color, I needed moisture because my hair was dried out. My scalp is naturally oily, so it never occurred to me that my hair could be dried out.
I use philosophy skin care products (and I love them!), so I had seen the marinating oil before, but never considered putting oil on my already oily scalp. I decided to give it a try and ordered the hair kit.
After the first use I was amazed at the difference in my hair. My hair was shiny and full of highlights again. I have fine hair that usually just sticks to my scalp, but after using the oil my hair was full of volume and bounce. I can't say enough good things about this product. I use it regularly now and I just wouldn't be without it.

iv'e been using shear splendor marinade for a month and it is making my hair softer, shinier and healthy looking. i dont usually style my hair(rollers, blowdry etc.) only when i go out. Since I've been using the marinade my boyfriend always thinks i've been to the salon. It really is great. the shear splendor shampoo and conditioner are ok nothing more than just what it is. But this marinade really works. Try the 2 oz trial size in the kit. Ive used it for 4 weeks and I still have more than half the bottle left and my hair is down to my waist.

Don't be afraid of the word "oil". This treatment reversed years of damage from my color-treated very long hair after the first use. I love Philosophy products so when I heard about Shear Splendor I didn't hesitate and purchased the entire system. The shampoo and conditioner are the best things I have ever done for my hair. The effects are cumulative and after a few months of continued use, I'm still impressed. I use the Marinating Oil once a week and it's now a "must have" for me.
The "Marinating" Oil is not what you might imagine an "oil" to be. It penetrates the hair, treats the scalp, smells really good (very subtle) and doesn't feel heavy. It's easy to leave in all night, washes out so quickly and it's instant gratification - beautiful hair.
Leave it to a great skin care company to apply beneficial treatment properties to hair care.
This Marinating Oil also multi-tasks for me. I use a tiny bit and rub it into my cuticles and nails. I use a few drops to tame frizz before I use my flat-iron. I've rubbed a few drops onto my hands and feet when I've felt extra-dry. This is good stuff!
I highly praise this product. This is not just another random addition to the confusing mass of hair care lines. This is serious *treatment* that won't be put on the shelf with the rest of the "things I've tried".
It's worth it. I actually love my hair again. My color lasts longer, doesn't fade, and the shine just won't quit. It's taken years and years of damage away.
I can blow-dry, flat-iron, curl... without the fry-factor.
The shampoo and conditioner last forever. A little really does go a long, long way.
Thank you again Philosophy, you've yet to let me down.
