This was purchased as a gift for my grandson. It was easy to install, and we are enjoying seeing each other more often.
Skype compatible issue September 3, 2010

I ordered this camera to use with Skype. I loaded the software as instructed and when I went to use it with Skype my family could hear me but not see me. I researched online to find out this camera is not the most compatible with Skype however I found a link recommended to correct the problem. After i uninstalled the software I used this link which went to Microsoft's website and downloaded the drivers. Then I opened Skype and through tools then options I was able to verify the camera was working and set it as my camera through Skype. Now everything is working great.

Camera was really easy to install. Picture quality is ok, haven't tried sound yet. One issue is the delivery. Might've not been handle as well which caused a pixel or two to be broken.

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-3000 does exactly what it is supposed to. The size is nice as it is very small and does not get in my way. It has a hard time with bright backgrounds, and it also has a hard time when it is dark in the room. It is fine in normal lighting conditions. I now see the importance of HD, as this doesn't have it. I also now see the importance and benefits of having HD, autofocus, wide angle lenses, and digital mic. However, for the price, this LifeCam VX-3000 is fine. I wanted it as an entry-level learners cam, and it has been perfect at doing that!

Everything you need for a basic webcam. Good video, good audio and very easy setup. Plugged it in and 2 minutes later was using it for Skype. Comes with a long cord for easy camera placement and looks stylish too. I would recommend for sure!
