Amazon.com For those who believe true love lasts beyond this physical plane, P.S. I Love You is a jewel in the romantic-movie crown. With elements of Ghost, Heaven Can Wait, and My Life, the film is an unabashed valentine to the notion of lasting (everlasting?) love. Hilary Swank is Holly, a deeply happy lass married to the most impossibly adorable Irishman on the planet, Gerry (Gerard Butler). When an illness takes him from her, Holly spirals into depression. Then, as if from beyond the grave, communications, gifts, and remembrances from Gerry begin to appear--gestures he'd planned knowing his death was coming. The "communications" with her dead husband could threatened to keep Holly in past, yet they begin to pave a path into her future. Swank, not a traditional romantic actress, is quite moving as Holly, whose grief and confusion is palpable. Butler will win new continents of fans, largely female, as the yummiest honey one could wish for. Special kudos to the supporting cast, including Lisa Kudrow as a Holly pal, and James Marsters and Kathy Bates, always breaths of fresh air onscreen. Under the sure hand of director-writer Richard LaGravenese, P.S. I Love You is touching, sad (have tissues on hand), and heartbreakingly lovely. --A.T. Hurley

A Lively and lovely Irishman! October 15, 2008 Maria Augusto (Santos, Brazil) It is incredible to know that Gerry will be dead in the beginning of this very romantic film! Gerard Butler (Gerry) and Hilary Swank (Holly) have great chemistry indeed. Gerry loves Holly so much that before dying of a brain cancer leaves her several letters, each one with a different and uplifting message and advice so that she can continue with her life without him, all of these letters ending with a "P.S. I love you"! Their most important and touching moments together are showed in flashbacks, really romantic, funny and also showing breathtaking scenery from Ireland, Gerry's homeland. Here we can feel and see how love is so strong that can overcome death. If you believe in love and is in the mood for a well told story, watch this movie. I ordered the book and am looking forward to reading it to compare it to the film. People say the film is much better... I'll return with my book review later... Cheers, friends! Live your lives full of love. That' what really matters!
P.S. I Love You October 11, 2008 Jane Rutzler (Smithtown, NY United States) Adorable-made me want to go to Ireland. I watched this movie 4 times the first week I got it...
Absolutely Beautiful October 6, 2008 S. Pugh (Gulf Coast) After being in her shoes I think this movie is beautiful. Hilary did a great job of portraying the emotions that one goes through and did so beautifully. Life goes on around you, but you have to make the choice to step out onto the sidewalk.
ITS LIKE KISSING MY SISTER!!!!!! October 3, 2008 J. sheppard (seattle, wa usa) Yea, cant really believe people are giving this 4 stars on average. I do agree Hillary Swank did a overall great job as well as Harry Jr. as the side character. Actually I would of given this movie 4 out of 5 if not for one scene in which I think ruins the movie. The whole "You kiss like my sister" and "oh I'm glad you think so to" scene. "oh lets be friends" Yea horribly acted and totally unrealistic. Besides the whole way he says it justs gives me the creeps and a few laughs since. I know his character is brash but come on. Could of done that scene a thousand other ways....ok ok this is based on book which I have not read, and based on that scene I surely wont be reading. I guess overall good movie but when you see the scene with Yankee stadium....turn off the sound for about 3 min. Then I imagine it could be a satisfying movie.
Better than the book. September 28, 2008 Dana JA Lamm (Long Island, NY) I normally DO NOT say that a movie is better than the book, but sadly, in this case it's true. Yes, you get more background on the characters, but for me, the book was boring. The movie was more fast paced and didn't include anything dull.
