Product Description With the OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter, baking cherry pies, canning cherries and making homemade preserves are no longer the pits. The Cherry Pitter features a removable splatter shield that directs juices downward and prevents them from soiling your work area. When not in use, the splatter shield fits inside the front chamber and a lock holds the Cherry Pitter closed for convenient storage. Sturdy, die-cast zinc construction removes pits with ease, and soft, comfortable non-slip handles absorb pressure while you squeeze. The cherry holder is extra large to accommodate Bing and Rainier cherries and has a recessed cup to securely hold smaller varieties when pitting. Also try the Cherry Pitter to prepare fresh cherries for small children. The Cherry Pitter should be placed in the dishwasher in its unlocked position.

Cheap. Easy to use. Saves a ton of time. October 9, 2008 Peter Thatcher (Phoenix, AZ USA) I love cherries. When they're in season and cheap enough, I buy a ton of them. But I like to put them in smoothies and yogurt, which makes it necessary to remove the pit. I was doing with just a knife, which worked well enough but took a long time. Then, I read about this little gadget and bought it. It works. It doesn't make the work instantaneous, but saves at least half of the time. And it's a lot more fun shooting the pit out with this guy than cutting the cherry in half. It's cheap. If you eat a lot of cherries, it will save you time.
OXO cherry pitter ok September 28, 2008 Roberta A. Wilmoth (Bitburg, Germany) I purchased this particular product because it was endorsed by a cooking magazine. It is fairly easy to use and cleans easily, but I didn't expect it to leave such a large hole in what you were pitting. The other thing I don't care for is the "splash guard" frequently comes off during the pitting process. I will continue to use this product because it's better than nothing.
Just what I needed September 18, 2008 T. LaRiccia (MO) WOW! I read the other reviews and wondered how it was people could be so excited about a cherry pitter- this thing is fantastic! Easy to use, easy to clean; absolutely the best tool for the job.
Oxo has done better September 15, 2008 M. Uniack (Woodside, NY) I was a little disappointed in this product. I pitted some olives and it took quite a bit of strength to work it. The olives were not all that hard.
Perfect for smaller amounts of cherries September 12, 2008 C. Stephens This Cherry pitter works very nice except for the occasional stuck pit that does not get seperated from the cherry. The splash gard works well but you still want to hold it down into the sink. The grip feels very nice in the hand. Easy to wash out. Would definetly buy again.
