Nice printer .... but ... BUT August 17, 2008 Thomas P (Kansas City, MO) I'm keeping this review short because there's only one thing that really, really bothers me which others should know about. We all know ink is expensive for printers. It's one of the major factors one should consider when buying a printer. I am extremely annoyed with this printer because often times, the cartridges are half-full still and the printer insists the cartridge needs to be changed. When I need to reseat the cartridges, often times, the printer will say there is no cartridge there. I am no printer novice. I've had ink jet printers since they were first invented. My first inkjet lasted 10 years with no problems until the problem which ended it's working life. I definitely know how to clean printers and do any necessary maintenance to increase longevity. Overall, I cannot rate the product very high because of this. You'd think manufactures would be able to improve all aspects of products over time instead of making them more annoying.
Disappointed August 10, 2008 Auburn Fan 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I owned another brand for many years. I was perfectly satisfied, but it did not have all of the features that I needed. I bought the MFC465 on the strong recommendation of the sales rep in the office supply store. I immedidately noticed that it seemed more cheaply made than my original brand. The draft quality looks like draft quality print. My old printer had such good draft quality that I defaulted to that option for all of my professional papers. I saved a lot of ink this way. On this printer, I have to print normal quality just to read my banking statements. It seemd to use ink quickly. I was shocked to learn that I had to buy four different ink cartridges. The worst feature on this printer is that when one color goes out, the printer will not work until that one color is replaced. Most of my documents are in black and white. I played with the color prints while my grandchildren were visiting. It quickly ran out of yellow ink and would not print at all. Since I rarely use the color print, I was furious that my documents would not print. I had to stop what I was doing to run out and buy a yellow cartridge so that my black and white documents would print. That makes no sense to me. I told the store manager how displeased I was with this printer. He inferred that he had a lot of complaints on this particular printer. In fact, he was shocked that the sales rep recommended this brand over the others. Even though I have used this printer for four months, he agreed to exchange it for an upgraded version of my old brand.
Confusing August 8, 2008 Kathryn S. O'Brien (Whidbey Island, WA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I like the size of the unit and the display area is easy to read but the directions are a train wreck. It starts out like.."all you have to do is...." and from down there it's downhill. There are a number of things not explained or you have to glean the two sets of directions page by page hoping you'll find an answer. After all, if you can't set it up properly how can you tell if it's a good product?
Beats as it sweeps as it cleans! July 31, 2008 Bay Runner (Oxford, MD) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This little puppy does everything it said it would do. It was an easy install and now we can print from any computer on the wireless router network. Giddyup!
GREAT PRINTER - GREAT PRICE July 24, 2008 C. Reed (Los Angeles, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What a great multi-function printer! I was so surprised by how easy it was to get started. Just make sure you follow the steps according to the manual, ie. getting it all ready before you install the software. It doesn't come with the USB printer cord, so that's something you can take from an old printer (if it's the same type) or you'll have to get it elsewhere. I bought this for my mom, replacing a terrible HP printer that stopped working for no reason. The color printing quality of the MFC-65cn is great and the ink cartridges are so easy to click in. All I can say is buy it! You'll never find a less expensive, all-in-one machine like this.
