Very good thermostat - but be careful! August 15, 2008 L. Roderick (Naples, FL United States) Florida gives heating/cooling systems a most arduous workout - and after high bills and uneven cooling with two thermostats I took Consumer Reports' advice, and bought the LUX. Good move. As always, Amazon delivered it on time and in fine shape. Then came the off-with-old, on-with-the-new routine. Been there, done that many times, so I was prepared for minor surprises and major frustration. Nope. Despite the LUX manual's TINY print, I was able to get everything right the first time. Well, maybe not everything . . . In this part of Florida, or "Flawed-duh!" as we love to label our fair state, there is no natural gas service. And it's a good think I dug into the manual before setting the new unit in place. Seems there is a very tiny "jumper" hidden away in the bowels of the thermostat. In "most" cases (but not all, apparently) you're supposed to take the jumper (a tiny bit of black plastic) off the "gas" pins, and slide it onto the "elect" pins. But not in all cases. . . . .hmm. Time to call the LUX guys. My phone pal wasn't sure about the jumper, and had to look it up, but then came back to say that I did, indeed, have to move it. Saying one smallish prayer, I picked at the jumper, to find that it did, indeed, slide easily off its pins. And onto the other set of pins, right next to it. Later, I'd find that I did it correctly. Whew! That aside, the thermostat was quite frustrating to program, in that I had to remember what Scroll, Next, Yes, Exit, and Menu all meant. I managed to mix up Scroll and Next a dozen times before I got it right. Once set up - it works like a charm! My AC unit cycles on-off less frequently, the house seems to stay at a stable temperature, and my work-at-home wife is a much happier camper. (read it: "worth every penny!") I do have two very minor gripes: the hinges on top of the unit are very fragile - be careful when taking off the front cover! The other small irritant is that the "Menu" label on the front screen is half-hidden by the upper plastic case, and very tricky to activate. Although some reviewers have given the LUX lower marks, I must say that (knock on wood) my unit works flawlessly - and is very easy for even my aged eyes to see in mid-night.
Lux Products Touch Screen 7 Day Programmable Thermostat TX9000TS July 9, 2008 A. Cohen Works great and has a lot of flexibility due to the 7 day programming. Only rated a 4 due to time it takes to setup intial programming.
Stylish, modern, easy to use Thermostat... Works great! June 15, 2008 R. Gonzalez I just bought two TRANE 48,000 btu air conditioners for the weather of Arizona (desert) and i bought two Lux TX9000TS thermostats for each one... works great! Excellent look and easy to use thermostat. Four differents programable temperatures a day with seven different days option, with backlit for low light places. The only thing is that you can't set up an automatic start (or off).... (must be manually). The thermostat model was rated #1 in Consumer Report magazine.
Great thermostat... if large. June 12, 2008 Anthony Pantliano (Pearl River, NY) I bought this thermostat to replace a programmable Honeywell unit that was the same price, and had many of the same features, but was inaccurate when it came to maintaining temperature. This Lux is easy to set-up, easy to take off the wall and replace the battery, and has many features the Honeywell did not have. I like the seven day programming, and the touch-screen. I do wish it displayed the room temperature and set temperature at the same time, though. Also, I am not fond of the switches that control heat or cool and fax mode, but it's a minor issue as those controls are not used often. Overall, it's a great thermostat.

Great product. Tried another brand but was completely frustrated by the installation that I threw it away and installed this one. Went in with ease. Programming is a snap with the copy function.
