| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Eyewitness Video is a fantastic science series that provides wonderful explanations for the mysteries of our natural world. Desert is a fascinating look at the diversity of life that struggles to survive in arid and unforgiving climates. A typical Eyewitness factoid: camels have semi-transparent eyelids that allow them to shut their eyes against a sandstorm and yet still see. Desert does a fantastic job of providing interesting graphic images and incredible video clips to keep young viewers fascinated while at the same time being highly informative. Martin Sheen provides effective narration for this video, which includes a five-minute behind-the-scenes clip that shows how these extraordinary productions come together. --Brendan J. LaSalle

Solid Family Entertainment..... June 25, 2003 LadyNaava (Sunny California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I enjoyed Eyewitness desert. But it was perhaps a fraction less interesting than the other Eyewitness videos and this is why I rated it down one star. In EW-Desert, several pertinent facts about deserts are discussed: where they are, how people (and animals) live in them, and the historical significance of deserts.Unfortunately, there seems to be a HUGE amount of time spent discussing camels rather deserts, and there appeared to be almost no discussion of the origins of deserts. Still, EW-Desert was interesting enough to view, at least once. My favorite all-time EW videos are: Eyewitness Plant (this is surprisingly good), Eyewitness Monster, and Eyewitness Dog. IF you like Desert, give those a try as well, you won't be disappointed.
Eyewitness - Desert (VHS) August 9, 2001 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Eyewitness videos are one of the best series we have found so far, and Desert is our alltime favorite video of the series. These videos are based on the Dorling-Kindersley books of the same titles. Each episode combines educational information and vivid imagery for all ages. Our toddler has become fascinated by the "ships of the desert", camels. Martin Sheen narrates this series and does an excellent job. At the end of each video, there is a small segment which explains some of the trick shots and difficulties in filming. Fun for the entire family and only lasts thirty minutes.
