The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioral-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time.

    Game Features:
    • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
    • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
    • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
      • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
      • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
    • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
    • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
    • The Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio district.
    • The Force Unleashed debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd.
    • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

    Meet the Cast
The Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. Set during the "dark times" between Episodes III and IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed portrays the previously untold story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice -- and now you can put a face to that mysterious character as well as the major supporting cast members as LucasArts unveils the actors set to star in The Force Unleashed.

The Cast of The Force Unleashed

The New Technology of The Force Unleashed
With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also two completely new and innovative technologies -- Digital Molecular Matter by Pixelux Entertainment and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. These groundbreaking technologies combine with Havoc physics to create true next-gen gameplay and the Force like it's never been seen or experienced before.

5 out of 5 stars Star Wars The Force   November 13, 2008
    Scraps (Akron OH)
I purchased this game for my grandson and he just loves it. He cannot wait to get home from school to play. There are so many missions and different things that you can do while playing this game that this should keep him entertained for quite some time. Great game!

3 out of 5 stars Not a bad adventure game   November 12, 2008
    DragonMaster
The game was a decent amount of fun, but I wish it was a tad longer. Standard achievements, killing x amount with y ability and complete z level on medium/hard/superhard. The gameplay got a little repetitive but it was fun using the force powers to kill tons of enemies at once. The boss fights are probably the best part of the game since they are all unique and can become quite challenging. After I beat it, I immediately put it on Goozex for its trade value since I know that I will never play it again. It only has replay value if you want to get all of the achievements. I really would have liked to see some sort of multiplayer, either co-op missions or even deathmatch/ctf.

If you are a star wars fan, then it is well worth playing, but after you've gotten the story from it, it's not worth keeping around. My opinion is to rent it instead of buy.

3 out of 5 stars Lots of action, good story, but wish there was more   November 10, 2008
    David G. Jung (California USA)
I'm a huge Star Wars fan since it came out in Summer of 1977 and have followed the mytho ever since. I've now been playing the game for for the last month when ever I have a spare moment and I'm enjoying the game thoroughly. Visually, the game is stunning. The sound effects and game play work well together. It's great to be able to Force Push or Force Lightning a bunch of stormtroopers and aliens alike. The Force Grip like Vader used is really cool, too. A lot of the little side, bonus objectives are fun, too. Definitely makes you want to do more or at least go back an replay the mission.

Why a 3-star? Something of this caliber, I find myself getting frustrated because of the AI work done for the camera angles. Sometimes, the AI puts you right on top of the action and you can't see what your fighting, just ghost images of you and your opponents. Also, I expect a game like this to have a lot of character moves (X-X-Y-Y, LT-B, etc.), but when I've tried to execute them, I don't see that much of a difference in play so I pretty much stick to some basic combo moves. I'm sure I'm expecting too much because I know other games only take a few dedicated nights complete if you invest the time. I was hoping this would go a bit longer to complete with more worlds to explore or Star Destroyers to bring crashing down.

5 out of 5 stars Great technical Jedi game with awesome graphical effects!   November 9, 2008

When I started playing this game about a month and a half ago I felt like it had a great beginning. Being a full time worker and a full time parent I rarely have time to play. But whenever I get my hands on this game I just can't wait to play it.

First, the graphics in this game are up to date with the current technology. The controls are very easy to handle and the menus and submenus are very easy to get to.

Second, the playability and story line have a sense in the Star Wars legacy, the voices are just the same and this is NOT just another stupid Star Wars game.

Third, it is a fun game to play for all ages, no matter if you are a 35 year old man like me or if you are a 12 year old kid. You are going to love this game. Yes, it is not a very long game: 10 to 12 hours of full play time... depending on how good you are.

The only thing I am not that happy with is that you can't see all the way up, pretty much you can see so much of the picture and yes... there is no need to see all the way up but being a star wars jedi or sith you want to see all your surrounding because you never know when something might creep up from you.

Overall, I love this game and I would recommend it to anyone!!! But it if you get a chance!!!

This is only the second Star Wars game I've played (besides Tie Fighter and X-Wing). The other one I played was KOTR 2, and Unleashed is a thousand times better. Definitely a recommended game to buy or at least play.
